People always look scared or stupid when i talk to them

i don't think i'm a scary person, at least i try not to be... i am actually really shy, so maybe that also causes me to think this... but i swear, whenever i talk to people, they look at me like i'm a complete weirdo or they're expecting me to say something crazy... they never smile even if i do or if i say somehting nice. they always have a blank expression on their face, with wide open eyes, staring at me. i mean, i know you're supposed to keep eye contact, but not ALL the time right? it's like they're staring me down trying to make me feel bad. anyone else notice this or am i doing something wrong?

If you're anything like me, you tend to walk around with a 'I'm a badass, don't screw with me' kind of look on your face, even without noticing you do it. Try smiling once in awhile, and easing up on your tone? :D

This happens to me too. Dumb people get scared of what they don't know. Try to scare them as a joke maybe they'll loosen up

I know exactly where you're coming from. I answered that no, it's not normal for people to look like that when they're spoken to by someone who is more intelligent than they are because that's what I believe. If people are stupid, that's their problem, not mine.

People do this to me all the time. I think they're intimidated by their own jealousy. Most adults don't feel really strong jealousy because they're usually self-actuated by adulthood. But when someone comes along who makes them just look like shit, they feel that strong jealousy and they just don't know what to do with it. If you're taller or better looking than average or especially if you're smarter than them, they just don't know what to do about how insignificant they feel. It's not you, it's them.

I have two basic responses to the blind-eyed mushy fishface look I get from people who can't deal with the fact that once I walk into the room, they're no longer King Shit. People I don't know, I just walk away from when they start that garbage. They're not worth trying to talk to. People I do know, I stop whatever I'm saying, describe the look on their face and then ask what they're thinking. Although I'll tell you right now that the only answer to that question is "nothing", and since you already knew that from the stupid look on their face, that's kind of not news right there.

Another thing that might be happening, and this doesn't happen to me because I'm a woman so it's not expected of me to take charge of anything, is that if you're the retiring sort, the person you're speaking to might be waiting for an order or a command and be confused as to why you aren't issuing one. People like to know what they should be doing and if you look like you should be ordering them around and you don't, they get all lost and stupid.

  • I get that ALL the time! I am a teen, but it's not like i'm gonna mug every person I see. Some teens give us all a bad name. If you are a teen, i'd say it's normal, if not, it's probably in your head, and maybe you should boost your self confidence.....
If you're in london however, helping someone will make them fear you. Goodness knows why, but it must be that they're all so unfriendly. Anyway, I hope that helped =)
