Penis fight!

My boyfriend and I got in a HUGE fight tonight over the most absurd topic- circumcision. I recently read about female genital mutilation in Africa and saw a parallel between this popular African tradition and the common American practice of circumcision. I brought this up to my boyfriend (who is circumcised) and told him if I had a baby boy I would think twice before putting him under the knife, and oh my god he got REALLY offended. Completely invalidated my opinion just because I'm female and I "don't know what it's like to have a dick". He told me he will never have kids with me and now won't even talk to me!
Am I completely wrong here, or is circumcising a baby boy because it's more "aesthetically attractive" completely nuts!

If you don't keep your dick clean enough to have a foreskin, you don't keep your dick clean enough to have a dick. Just cut the whole thing off if you can't keep it clean enough you lazy bastards.

The key here is that he feels like you just called his dick a cripple. So make it up to his dick. Tell his dick how fine and hard and sexy it is. Write love letters to his dick with your tongue. Grasp his dick like it was the mighty spear of Jupiter, and suck his naked head like his seed was the nectar of God.

And then slap your boyfriend in the f**king face and tell him not to circumcise his f**king kids just because he’s f**king insecure about foreskin!

I'm uncut, and I would seriously punch my mother in the face if she suggested wishing she had circumcised me. My loving mother. IN THE FACE.

I personally disagree with circumcising babies because it is technically genital mutilation, but mainly because the child has no choice in the matter (and in rare cases bad things happen). For a guy, coming to the realization that you were circumcised can cause feelings of resentment towards your parents (usually the father), and it's not like you can really get it back (well technically you can, but it's not easy).

If you read the unchanged scriptures of Jesus (Iesus - there aint even a J in hebrew) you'll see not only did he detest meat eaters and taught reincarnation but also said this...

His disciples said to him, "Is circumcision beneficial or not?"
He said to them, "If it were beneficial, their father would beget them already circumcised from their mother. Rather, the true circumcision in spirit has become completely profitable."

    Gospel of Thomas (53)

Like he said, if it was meant to be GOD would have made it that way. and to any embittered atheists "Nature" would have made it that way.

"If it is intrinsic, it is right."
Such a point of view isn't always true. Every living organism evolves from generation to generation and adapts itself to it's respectful biom. After such evolutionary transformations, there are left-over organs, instincts, tendencies in the organism. This is called an "atavism". The blinddarm (or blind gut) is a very good example of such an atavism, because it serves no real function in the human organism.

However the foreskin... The foreskin has several purposes:
      - protection,
      - insulation,
      - intensification of sexual pleasure (that's why Jews are usually perceived by women as great lovers - they don't end so fast)

Circumcision has just about as much sense as piercings, tattoos, low-rider hydraulics or a faculty in management.
On the other hand, it has a vary important religious and traditional role for Judaism, so if that's the problem in this case then it's a very delicate matter.

I think circumcised men should demand to have their foreskins back.

But seriously. I am uncircumcised. My father WAS circumcised. I never had any problems with that.

    Foreskin is awesome.

That started with the Jews, if hes not Jewish then his parents were not properly informed. It's totally not necessary to give a non Jew male child a BRIS.

just because your bf is mutilated is no reason for him to pass the insanity on to someone else.removing a foreskin is a completely useless procedure.any doctor willing to remove healthy body parts should be removed from the profession.

What you don't say here is whether or not your boyfriend is circumcised. He seems to be taking your comments personally, so I wonder if he interpreted your remarks as a criticism of his own anatomy.

I think that female circumcision is a much more disfiguring and painful process with serious after effects, but I'm inclined to agree with you that male circumcision is not necessary. My own son was circumcised primarily because there was some concern about how he would feel if his penis looked different from his father's. Because my son isn't always the cleanest person in the world, I feel somewhat vindicated that we made this decision. But again, in most cases, doctors seem to be telling new parents that circumcision should not be viewed as a necessity.

Hope you resolve this issue with the boyfriend -- good luck.

    • Actually she does say her boyfriend is circumcised.
It is a thing from the past is circumcision. In the UK it is no longer done unless there are medical grounds for it where as it used to be done as a matter of course.
If you boyfriend feels so strongly about it, I would sugest you tell him to go read medical oppinions by typing "circumcision" into his search engine. There is absolutely NO MEDICAL REASON for this opp and it is something that is dieing out except where required for religious reasons. Personally, I'd say any religion that requires it's men to be mutilated in this fashion is an affront to mankind.
I am uncircumcised. I would NEVER consider being any other way and my 3 boys are the same.
You are born with a foreskin for a reason. You wouldn't cut an ear off or a finger, or a hand? So why the foreskin??

You're right -- she did mention this. I have the worst habit of skimming over the details in these posts.

I do agree that circumcision has been proven to be unnecessary. It's an interesting topic that really seems to polarize people sometimes. But since the young woman's boyfriend is already circumcised, I'm not sure there's much point in belaboring the fact that he's missing something that a lot of other men find valuable. Nothing can be done about it as this point, and perhaps he finds her abhorrence of the practice as an indication that she thinks that his penis has been "mutilated." Something to consider...

        • Be it that she thinks he is mutilated or not, the fact remains that indeed he is. I haven't re read the original staory but I think the problem arose because she said if she had a son she would not have him done. At this point, if memory serves, he stated there would be no children in that case. A very sad take it or leave it option which spured her to seeking oppinions on the subject. Personally, If my wife had wanted my boys done, I feel so strongly AGAINST it that it would have gone to court. No way was anyone going to mutilate my children and I would have even divorced her and claimed custody of my boys for "their physical safety" Bet I'd have won in this country to!
