Pain in the back

Whenever I actually get my "required" amount of sleep (8 hours or more), I always wake up insanely stiff and sore (often my lower back). I mean to the point where I can't move. This only happens on weekends, when I'm able to get more than 5-6 hours of sleep. It's so bad that I have to get my husband to help me get out of bed. Once I'm up, I'm perfectly fine. I thought it might be our mattress, so we went out and bought a really nice, expensive new one (supposed to be supportive and good for bad backs), and we also bought $50 pillows, instead of the cheap $3 ones you get at Wal-mart. But I still wake up in extreme pain. Is this normal?? I am rarely sore on week days, since I'm LUCKY to get 5 or 6 hours of sleep (which sucks since I'm always tired).

    • Didn't think it was anything too serious. Been exercising, and I think it's helping.

Your mattress and pillows most likely are not the cause for your back pain...it seems you probably have strained your back in the past and now it is starting to bother you. Drink a juice called (Mona Vei) It is an acai juice that can really help aches and pains, but as soon as you can, contact your doctor...he may have an exercise program you can do to help! Strenghthening your abdomen will give you great lower back support, so if you are out of shape, that could be the culprit!

    • Thanks! Yeah I have actually been exersizing A LOT lately and I haven't noticed as many pains. Maybe that was the problem all along!

  • Yeah I'm gonna go see my doc this week. Thankfully I wasn't as sore this weekend. Odd, lol.

Sounds like you're sleeping in a bad position. You could try getting one of those body pillows maybe. But yeah, if you're in so much pain and stiff that you can't get up by yourself, I think a doctor visit should be done.

  • Yeah - you've ruled out the mattress - I agree with PF - time to see the Doc ...

Hmm...it's hard to say. If that shiny, new mattress is as supportive as you say and that can be ruled out, it could be any number of things from your sleeping position to who knows what else. You're probably best seeing a doctor to check if anything's up, because if the pain is as bad as your say, then you don't want it getting worse. Not sure what they will do though...

Google it and see if you find something that helps.
