Ok so I am 18 and have used a pad since I first got my period. I'm going to college soon and think that a tampon would be easier to carry around. I have really light periods, though, so I don't know if a tampon would really help me that much.
So, should I start using tampons or stick to using pads?
I'm 19 and I find tampons to be extremely difficult to insert, uncomfortable and unreliable. I think it depends on the brand and the person.

I really don't see a difference. I am not particularly fond of sticking something in my vagina, so I still use pads. Probably could carry more Tampons, but you should be careful about Toxic Shock Syndrome. You don't need to worry with pads, and since you have a light flow, just stick with them
Tampons are much more comfortable. I mean, didn't we suffer diapers enough when we were babies? Plus it's worse because your sitting in blood. And it may start to smell. I started using tampons at a very young age. It is non sense, when someone says you can't use a tampon because your 'cherry hasn't been popped' because I symtarted at 12 years old and my 'cherry definatey wasn't popped' . It is true that a tampon can break your hymen though. And ever since I have used tampons I can't use a pad unless there is absolutely no way I can get my hands on tampons. Tampons are much better to use.
because ur period is lighter than most a tampon really would help u more vs. a bulky pad.
Tampons are sooooo much more comfortable! You don't even feel them, plus no worries such as leaking ect.

I say this just because with your periods being light, it might be harder to get the tampon in, and it may be really uncomfortable to remove it since there wouldn't be as much moisture.
Even if you end up liking pads more, just give tampons a try, you'll never know until you try.
There r different size tampons for light and heavy flows. In my opinion tampons r better than pads but I can't use them I tried and was in alot of pain when I used them and they made my cramps worse! It all depends on what makes u more comfortable. I don't reccomend them though if ur still a virgin cuz they can break through the hymen.

I think tampons are a much better bet. I've been using them since my mid teens without a problem. Just don't get too comfortable with them and forget the 4-8 hour rule!

Love tampons!! Last year I had to wear pads for a week cuzz I had a biopsy down there and the doc said no tampons, I was miserable!! Plus, if u have heavy flow, it has an odor.

Menstrual cup is the best. Seems gross at first but once you get used to it, it's a godsend, trust me. Better for the environment, too, and waaaay cheaper in the long run as it's reusable.
it depends, is your cherry popped? if not the tampon wont go in.
plus tampons are made for people with really light periods, if you dont feel comfortable just wearing a tampon use a thin panty liner with it.
Umm, I'm 18 and I've never had sex, and I use tampons. You need to stop going around saying that virgins can't wear tampons, that's not true at all.
Saying a tampon won't go in if your cherry isn't popped just is not true. I am 21 and still a virgin and have been using tampons since I first got my period in middle school. Popping your cherry means breaking your hymen. If someone is having her period the hymen already has holes in it or else how would the blood come through? Some girls rupture their hymen from playing sports and some are not even born with one.
Tampons are not just for women with very light periods. Where did you read this nonsense?
They come in differet sizes, the largest are for very heavy flow. Hor some women, just pads are never enough.
