My daughter is 14 wants to try out for cheerleading squad I heard they have to wear thongs under their bloomers is this true? I don't allow her to wear them
I don't know of they do, but in general, their costumes are very sexualised. You should be taking problem with the whole outfit, not just the thongs! Shame on you!
I would say give your girl the freedom to cheer without being conscious of what she is wearing. Thongs aren't a big deal and if you are so worried about it looking vulgar then try to buy g strings. They are better than the normal thongs. I buy g strings online for my daughter from http://www.dollboxx.com.au/collections/g-strings . They are very comfortable and don't look vulgar. And as you said she would be wearing them underneath bloomers so they won't be visible.
Honestly... just let your daughter cheer. Thongs aren't that big of a deal. Its almost exactly like regular underwear.
Surely there is a practical reason for why they are supposed to wear them though?
