Only poor people live in apartments, iin?

This is a belief that I no longer have.

At some in my childhood, I came under the belief that only poor people lived in apartments and as such I viewed apartments with much derision. I have no idea why or how I came to believe this. I remember this belief ending when I asked my mother about it. She was in shock and preceded to tell me how untrue this was and about how there were many people of high income earnings who lived in luxury apartments.

Is this normal?

You might want to check out the rent on an uptown apt in Manhattan these days. I wish I was poor enough to afford one.

Apartments cater to all social classes. Yes historically apartments were originally designed for low income residents who lived in urban areas which were usually the city/inner city areas.

But now this tread is reversing in most cities where now the land value of these areas have risen while suburbs have either remain static or increased slower over these past decades. Another thing is the life style change, people opt to have smaller homes these days.

In the past they were more of a thing for the poor, but now because of all of the mass immigration and environmentalism preventing urban expansion, apartments are the new way of life for the average westerner, ugh look at europe property values are through the roof and the birth rate is negative....

I'd say this is a normal thing to think. My mom's parents rented and my dad's parents owned a June Cleaver-esque house, so I grew up assuming that only young people and poor people rented. After the housing collapse, though, renting became the thing to do.
