Online relationships

Regarding online romantic relationships, I'm currently in one (Yeah, bring it on CrudAIDS)
A bit over 4 months, online only so far with plans to meet soon.

There's definite pros & cons IMO.

I think for me the positives are that I was intrigued by this girl before I even knew what she looked like.
There was no intent to date & therefore neither of us were trying to impress the other. That just happened naturally.
Our personalities & sense of humor just seemed to click. & then I find out she's gorgeous... Fucking bonus!

Also, the connection you establish when you rely so heavily on purely verbal communication is SOLID. Problems HAVE to be spoken about & resolved.
Communication is key & you soon find out whether you have that.

I'm extremely excited about the situation I'm in & think that due to the unique way we met & learnt about each other (learning some of the heaviest stuff first) this will be the best relationship I've ever been in by far :)

As for the negatives.
Uncertainties & insecurities can be amplified with distance.
It takes work - you can't rely on sex or whatever else to keep things going & you have to make time for each other no matter what.
For us the time zone is probably the biggest obstacle.

& of course the lack of physical contact is fucking frustrating! Not just sex but the ability to cuddle, kiss, hold hands...
The stuff that most people take for granted. Plus sex...

Overall I wouldn't trade what I have for anything.
We're both capable of dating offline locally but not interested.
Both just happened to stumble across somebody perfect for ourselves & perfect for each other & that's rare, online or offline

I was, but seeing as we've met, I don't count it as online relationship anymore.

Yeah I've had a few online friends for years. I currently have an online bf although I feel a bit ridiculous to say that, since all we do is type to each other and draw cute doodles together... i love him very much but at the same time feels like i don't have the experience to make that judgement...

My very first relationship I had was an online relationship. I was 18 and she was 16.
She was the most caring, sweetest, brilliant girl to ever exist :)
We loved each other very much. It lasted little more than a year and we never met. We both decided to break up because we knew we would never meet and there was no bad blood between us. We are still friends though ^^
She really made a huge impact on my life and when I look for a girlfriend, I look for someone with her attributes.

I had an on-and-off 2-year-long relationship with a guy I met online, we were hoping and planning to meet, but different interests drove us apart I guess, he became weirdly religious out of nowhere and tried to shove it down my throat. Ironically, I became religious too a couple years later. xD
The relationship was still 99% amazing though despite it being strictly online, I didn't think it was possible to fall in love with someone I had never met face to face, but it really is.

I had an online relationship with a guy from India when I was 18, after talking for months he asked me to be his girlfriend and I said yes then he started calling me baby & sweety which made me cringe. He would disappear for days then come back online and send me these random vids of him playing these lengthy metallica guitar solos but no real conversation which I found strange, needless to say I ended things in a mature fashion shortly after by blocking him.

I have a couple of online friends. Mainly from instagram because i guess im a bit popular on it. I have like 3 friends in the US two in Germany and one in Bosnia and Herzgovina that i talk to on a daily bases. All girls who took interest in my and my california life style. As well i have like a couple online friends i talk to in facebook. One from australia two in the US and one in canada and Ireland. As well all girls. Some have a online crush on me but unfortunately for them i dismiss it because i am taken.

no im not even sure how to meet people online. much less start a friendship or a romantic relationship with them. i do always like to meet new people so it would be interesting

I've been in two online relationships and they both cheated on me. Today they want to marry you and tomorrow they're ''in love'' with another guy. Be careful with trusting people on the internet especially women.

I think I've ditched more online friends than those I've kept, like they have a sell-by date or something. Honestly, I feel tired having to explain everything thats happening in my life to every online friend. Alot of times I had to copy n paste 'cause some ask the same questions initially...and others were too clingy and asked for way too many pictures than at the rate I could provide. So now other than my family and close friends, I just have a few online buddies from overseas.

I do much online relationships .. it's almost a year that i've been doing this kind of relationship with him. He is so warm, kind and honest .. he'll always tell me what was he doing and if he hiding something he'll tell it soon coz he'll feel bad to me. Sucks time is when we both busy and having such a terrible problems.. like when i need a hug, he is not here to do it and so do i.. well, but we r still dating hehehe

No online relationships, but I did make -some- friends. About 3 or 4. It takes quite a while for me to consider someone my friend online.
