One of the biggest threats to the world

This week Florida released genetically modified misquitos into the wild to cut the population down. They're using a new gene editing software. The company name that produced them is Oxitec but there's several of them the biggest being Crispr. What they do is they inject a gene into their body. This gene lays dormant for them because their genetics are able to fight it. But their offspring will die young or become sterile. This is to cut down the misquito population which worked so good in Brazil it cut the misquito population down by 95% in the region they were released.

This worries me because imagine if this type of software got in the wrong hands. China already injected babies with a gene that made them immune to HIV without even telling them. So whos to say if this got in the hands of some rouge leader that he couldn't use this technology to effectively sterilize the whole planet? People act like this is crazy conspiracy talk but I dont see how its threat level is any different than having a nuclear bomb. The possibility of a mad man acquiring a nuclear bomb is low just like this software getting in the wrong hands. But in theory it could happen and they could give us a gene that sterilizes us. To me this is up there with the biggest threat to mankind right beside the nuclear bomb.
