One comedian!

Let's say, that you were only allowed to enjoy one comedian for the rest of your life, who would you choose? Meaning that for every other comedian, you could no longer watch their stand up comedy, watch films or shows they're in, or listen to any of their jokes ever again, etc. You only get one comedian's work. You can choose from any comedian that ever existed, not just those who are still alive.

(sorry about the list, there are so many comedians I didn't know who to choose, and I know I'm missing some very famous people along with loads of others, including some of my favourite! Just thought this would be more suitable as a poll than a story).

Eddie Izzard 2
Other 14
Charlie Chaplin 1
Stephen Fry 4
Bill Cosby 0
Eddie Murphy 2
Sarah Silverman 0
Hugh Laurie 0
George Carlin 5
Billy Connolly 0
Jon Stewart 1
Bill Hicks 4

    • It's so strange that you should mention him, I was just watching Black Books earlier today! What a coincidence. I really like him too.:)

Is that question? Buckley!! The rest can suck my theoretical dick. Buckley's the only person worth listening to in this fucked-up world we live in.

My favorite comedian that's still alive is Margaret Cho. Her crude humor always makes me split a gut. My favorite comedians that are dead would have to be The Three Stooges. Slapstick is the funniest ever.

My final decision would have to be The Three Stooges. Does that count as three? Oh well, that's My answer.

One of my new favourite comedians is the Australian Adam Hills. He's always been good but I think he's really hitting his stride now (pun intended for anyone who knows who he is). He recently had a 90 minute set which focussed almost exclusively on disability and it was genuinely brilliant.

Of the list, though, obvious choices for me would be Chaplin, Fry & Laurie, and Izzard but I'm going to say Billy Connolly. Perhaps not now, but at his peak, he was a strange kind of comedian. Sandwiched between eras of gag-men and alternative comedy, he somehow sits completely apart from what else was going on. I genuinely believe he moved comedy onwards and there are comedians today who underestimate his influence or forget just how natural he is before an audience. As long as I live, I'll never forget the bit about the incontinence trousers or the prescription windscreen.

I would pick my friend who recently did an amateur stand up routine that I could not attend.
