Ok when i talk to someone...

with an accent, I start to talk in the same accent that they do? For example, I was at a bookstore with my friend and the lady who worked at the check out counter was british, and when I heard her accent I started to unconciously mimic it. I have a friend who also does this, and we both don't have any idea what causes it. Is this normal?

I think that's normal. I don't know why, but I know sooo many people who do it, including me. It really is subconsciously.

@rodneylux yes they could, if I was talking to a guy from New Zealand and then suddenly started talking in their accent, they would think I was dissing them or taking the piss.

I always do it as well.Don't worry too much about it.Everyone does that once in a while and never realized it.

Because you mimic the accent.trying to improve my accent I decided to listen and watch loads of English music and movies.I started to pronounce some words wit a Brit accent it kinda cool.
