Ocd habit, iin?

Ok, so, I'm pretty OCD. I take zoloft for it (100 mil) but I still have a lot of the same tendencies, just less intense.

One of my big things is counting syllables. Like, when someone is talking, I'll count the amount of syllables in the sentence, usually on my fingers or moving my hand in a square or something. And it really drives me insane when the sentence-syllable thing ends on one of my middle fingers. I will like try to rephrase the sentence so many times so it will end on my last finger. It's so wierd. Sometimes I don't even think about it when I do it. I just... do.

Another thing is, when I'm in the car, and the terrain goes from grass to drive way or something, i lift my finger, almost like i'm making something jump over the pavement. I've been doing this for as long as I can remember, and it's not even a concious thing anymore. It's not like holding me back in life or anything, but I'm just wondering if it's on the normal spectrum.

for being ocd yes it normal but for normal ppl no its not but for the first one if its that bad try something ese to focus on or count its not easy and you will end up with a new ocd habit but basic phycology tells you to replace one habit with another so pick one that you think wouldnt boher you so much.......... good luck it wont be easy even if you can do it alot of ocd habits have something under lieing them even if you dont remember what started it at first

having some form OCD is statistically normal but it is still called a dis-order for a reason. At least your compulsions are not interfering with your life (or maybe they are?)If not then that is great!

I pull out my hair. one. by. one. and am nearly bald - my "ocd" is troubling to my life in many ways...

My OCD is. When I squish one of my finger tips. I have to swish the rest of them with the same amount of pressure. Everything has to be even.

  • I count syllabes too.
If it doesn't end on something like 4, 8, 12, or 16 (after 16 I start over) I say something else so the sylabbles will be any of those four numbers.

  • I have OCD problems, too. I have to put lotion on my arms before I go to bed. I mean, I feel like I HAVE to, there's no other option. I have to have my bedroom door locked before I go to sleep.
It drives me crazy. I wish I could stop with this! I take medicine for it. It helps me some. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Just a thought-putting lotion on your arms is harmless but is it wise to sleep with your bedroom door locked? Just in case there is an emergency situation in the house, for example a fire, nobody would be able to reach you.
I know that OCD habits are hard to break but please try to break this one!

      Best wishes.

You say that you are on medication for it so you obviously know that you have a problem. Why don't you discuss this with the doctor who prescribed the medication?

I have ocd. I have it with quite a few things. I have to tap everytime i drive past another driver, it drives everyone mental. Like my pun?
Anyway, i also have it with greasy hair, i wash my hair up to twice a day.
I wash my hands reguarly, and they've become sour. I use to much handgel! It's horrid.
I click blue things. As i walk into a room, i have to count all the blue things. I'm not even concious i'm doing it, till a random number will pop into my head.
I also like to keep by a routine.
If this things are holding you back then it's fine, but if they are go see your GP for advice.

The second thing doesnt seem like it would be too bad, the first could get quite annoying.

My advice, try doing something else while talking to people.

I have a few small OCD tendencies... While in my truck, my radio level must be at a multiple of five but only when im turning it up. If i turn it down for a phone call it doesnt bother me.

that actually isnt ocd about the radio level the hallmark about ocd is you would worry yourself non stop if the radio wasnt at five turned down or not ocd takes worring about something small or inate to a max and it cant be any other way

shut the fuck up ocd is horrible its not looking for attention to talk about your problems it would be dramatic if she said she was going to kill herself and even then i have known ppl with ocd so bad that i wouldnt call them dramatic to say they want to did ocd can really affect your quality of life and make you misserable
