Depends on the extent of the obsession. Obsessions can be a wonderful thing if put to good use. An example might be that of an artist or writer, but it becomes a bad thing when it has a negative effect on yours or another person's life.

I like being obsessed with things. Helps give a sense of purpose to my otherwise painfully dull life. I used to be obsessed with animals and Pokemon as a kid, anime as a teenager, and as an adult it's been various movies/TV shows/games/etc.
I really, really wish I had something to obsess over right at the moment because my family has hit hard times and I could really use a break from reality...
