Notice that cooler weather improves attitudes?

If you're in America now, you've probably noticed the cooler weather that's hit us the last couple of days. Here in Kansas, the last 2 days have been highs only in 50s and lows in low 40s, where earlier in the week, it was in the 70s and 80s. And what I've noticed is how much cooler and more chill it's made people's attitudes also. I really see now that the heat makes people bigger assholes and bitches. The cooler weather makes most of us nicer. Anyone else notice that too?

That's not necessarily a good thing. Cold weather can on sadness and depression in a lot of people, so people who are seemingly cool and laid back might just be too depressed to care about anything or to even interact with other people. Assholes and bitches are replaced by loners and antisocials.

    • I guess that's true that some people get friendlier when it's warm and more antisocial when cold. I guess sometimes that warmer weather brings behaviors in general more out in the open, good and bad, friendliness and outward rudeness and hostility. But, I still like how people are more chill when the weather is more chill. I like when it takes more to get someone riled up, takes away the feeling of having to walk on eggshells. And, I don't care if other people don't want to be social, because I'm someone who likes my space and enjoys my own company myself

I like summer... I feel better in hot weather. Cause I get to enjoy it only when I want to. Got AC at home, AC in the office and AC in my cars. So I enjoy heat on my balcony, drinking beer, watching something on my tablet, relaxing.

If I had to do physical work in 40 degree heat (40C) I'd be really pissed.

    • That's another reason I like it cooler, my line of work is physical. People around me at work definitely get pissed off more easily when we're working in the heat. It goes back to the ol comfort thing, working up a sweat isn't as bad when you're not already sweating. It's easier to work hard physically in the cold.

In summer I can be a sarcastic, grumpy bitch. In winter I'm only sarcastic.

      I like this.

I'm a bitch all round. It just depends on how patient I am feeling on the day and how dumb the fucker I'm dealing with is.

Yeah. It's draining trying not to lose your shit but sometimes things need to be said. When it's cold and rainy I am much more calm though.

    • Well, at least you lose the grumpy part when it's cooler.

I like weather in the 70s and 80s more than in the 40s and 50s but I think sometimes warmer weather makes me anxious for no reason.

Usually i see the opposite because of seasonal affective disorder. the lack of light to people with low vitamin D increases depression symptoms.

    For me.
It's warmer weather, long days, shorts, skirts, tank tops, flipflops
Bbq with friends, long rides, sleeping outdoors, loving the smells and everything growing and so full of life.
    Guess it's different here.
I see a lot more friendly faces when it's warm.

That's why places like most African countries or the Middle East are the way that they are.

People who are comfortable are more likely to be in a better mood. Honestly, this isn't a huge revelation. It's what I'd call common sense.

    • Yeah, they are in better moods when more comfortable. It's also why people are in better moods when they're off work than when at work.

    • It's not a revelation, I'm just enjoying welcoming the change. I can't stand the sweltering heat.

        Most sane people can't.

I've about to have my third summer in a row. I don't know why I'd inflict that shit on myself.

I am in Florida. Idk what cooler weather even means. I would definitely be less murderous if the weather was cooler!

      • Not me, South Florida is hot and humid 10 months of the year, and then you gotta worry about hurricanes too. My mom lives in West Palm Beach.

I'll take South Florida or Houston over Las Vegas any day of the week. I'm a frog, not a lizard. I can't stand a hot, dry climate. Las Vegas feels like an oven.

          • I prefer anywhere in the northern states better that have the seasons, snow, cool crisp falls and changing leaves. I guess I'm an elk or a moose

I really enjoyed the snow last year! My sister went to school in Tennessee, and they have snow there too.

Summer lasted a bit too long this year. and FINALLY it cooled off so we don't have to suffer heat and humidity all the time.

No one is particularly pleasant when suffering nasty heat.
It is kind of strange though because people do not react as bad to nasty cold. I think cause cold slows everything down, including people.

Besides, Autumn temperatures have a crisp, refreshing feel.
It is cool but not cold. The holidays are coming but we are not having our noses rubbed in it 100% just yet.
Wait til about January when people will become bitches and bastards again cause the cold has worn out it's welcome. Maybe not as bad as a long hot summer but anyways

    • Road rage is also worse when it's warmer out. People honk more, and are more likely to yell shit out their windows when they're already open.

      Comment Hidden ( show )
    • I agree with all of that. Except that I don't really notice alot of grumpiness in January, I still find people to be more chill then than any days between May and September. If there's any cold time of year where people get more uptight, it's in December with the holidays stress. And that's gone in January after New year's.
