Nothing turns me on anymore

Hi, 20 f. For some reason lately it’s been a lot harder for me to concentrate when I’m masturbating or having sex. I’ve been watching porn since I was 12, but over the years it’s gotten less and less of a turn on. So much so that I started to just listen to music instead. Right when I started watching porn I was already into the kinkier hardcore stuff, and by 17 I felt like I’d seen it all. Nowadays whenever I look at porn I feel nothing and I have to think of really weird or fucked up scenarios to get genuinely turned on (and even that’s really hard to do). It makes me kind of worried that my kinks will only get more fucked up with time, and that it’ll get harder for me to be turned on. It used to take me 2 minutes to cum while masturbating and now it takes me around 15

I once thought that my libido was going down when really I was having mindless sex with men I was barely attracted to. Now if it's my boyfriend (or before I met him, someone I had a crush on) I can really get into. Some days are also better than others. Sometimes porn gets boring so I've even had to get into weirder stuff so it's not the end of the world. Maybe explore WHO your having sex with and/or your relationship to them. That could enhance the experience. Also, give yourself a dry spell for a while so maybe you'll appreciate it the next time you masturbate or have sex

Also diving deep in weird stuff could really open up your mind/fantasy in a sexual meaning at least.

Girls like it when you are creative in bed and able to spice it up anytime.

I think this isn't uncommon at all for guys who watch loads of porn, but I have no idea how common it is for women.

I wonder if it might be the same desensitisation that men experience, of if it might be due to something else, such as some degree of depression, prescription or recreational drug use, or the hormone issue Maid mentions.

Twelve is pretty damn young to be hitting the hard stuff already, and I have to wonder how and why that happened. Maybe there's stuff that you've buried way down in your head, it's starting to surface now, and so you're feeling very conflicted about sex?

Or maybe there's just a negative feedback cycle going on. If you're preoccupied with worrying about how long it takes you to reach orgasm, it's more likely you're going to take longer to reach orgasm.

Have you tried taking a total vacation from porn and masturbation?

Probably watched too much porn. Starting at 12 with hardcore porn is pretty early also.

Maybe I am lucky but I am mid-40's and what it takes to get me off has increased only a little over my life time. Most of it is tame enough for even youtube.
Sure I know a lot more of what is out there but I do not need anything extreme.

    • I’m not joking when I say I have to think of really bizarre fucked up scenarios to get off. To me that’s kinda light

M/21-feel the same, I sometimes worried how extreme stuff I jerk to..
But no problem with time, I can finish myself in 2 mins or in 4 hours.

I think there might be a combination of things going on. Yes porn addiction is a thing but generally it's more propelled by an active libido and yours seems to be as if your actual arousal is dropping off which maybe might be a hormonal imbalance. I'd say bring it up to your doctor and see about getting a test on your hormone levels to start with and then go from there.

No I think what will happen is that the older you get the more your testosterone drops and the less you care about sex anymore anyway. Sex is so overrated. People carry on like its needed in the same way as air. It's not.

I agree that sex isn't a necessity of life, but the OP says she's a 20 year-old female.

That's pretty young to be jaded about sex, and the typical pattern is for a woman's interest in sex to gradually increase until she's somewhere in her thirties.

        • Welp, it’s true. And honestly I find it weird more women don’t watch it. It kind of has always pissed me off that it’s all made for men, the ads and all. This isn’t a troll post

You don't believe that a woman can become addicted to porn?

You sound like a kid who has never really been with a woman. You clearly understand nothing about female sexuality. Ironically this could be because you've "learned" all about it via porn...lol.

OP isn't alone in her enjoyment of pornography. Plenty of women watch porn. Go and Google the stats for porn sites, it would take you 30 seconds to see how common it is.

I am another woman who watches porn. I do so quite infrequently because I have the good fortune of being old enough that I matured sexually before the internet really took off. Perhaps if I was younger and internet pornography had been a part of my sexuality since the age of 12 then I'd be having the same problems as OP.
