Nothing after almost a year. dumb luck? iin? ??

My boyfriend and I have been having unprotected sex for about nine months now. We don't worry about STDs because we've both never been with anyone else. What we worry about is an unwanted pregnancy. We've only used condoms like, three times and I'm not on the pill or using any kind of contraceptive. We always rely on "pulling out." I KNOWW pulling out isn't effective but it's almost been a year and I still haven't gotten pregnant? Not that I'm not relieved, because we really can't afford a child right now, but it just kinda concerns me because when we are ready to have a child, we might encounter problems. Could either one of us have fertility problems? Could it be dumb luck? Or could this be normal?

I know I'm not right now. I've taken three home-pregnancy tests recently and I get 6-7 day periods regularly (just finsished this month's).

Also, I really don't want to hear about how stupid or reckless we're being by not using any kind of birth control and yet we don't want children. Thanks.

Your message has been bothering me since yesterday. Please don't bring a child into this world merely because you are too lazy to use a condom or because you are secretly wishing for one. (By the way, if you have the time to purchase a home pregnancy test, you have time to grab some condoms.). You are not mature enough yet for the responsibility of another HUMAN BEING. Please think clearly and wait until you are settled, married, financially stable, and more mature. Your future child DESERVES this. Jeez.

luck! trust me, if it hasnt happend yet, it probably will soon. how long do you want to depend on just luck to keep you baby-less? just get the shot if you dont want to think about BC alot. simple and then you dont even have to worry about it.

I think it truely is dumb luck. Most women are their most fertile about 7 to 14 days after their period. and although pulling out is almost the worst method in the book it works for some. EVEN though you could get prego off just the pre cum. I would say its time to invest in some kind of birth control or anything at all.

yes it's normal to have unprotected sex and not get pregnant. it took my husband and i about a year to conceive our first child. it's not normal to not use some sort of contraception in your situation. i'm not going say you're being stupid but you're going to be real sorry soon if you dont get depo or the pill.

I AM going to tell you how stupid you are. One of these times your luck is going to run out, and you're going to wind up with a baby you can't take care of. People like you are the reason people want to make rape victims carry their rapist's child. I have no respect for someone who can't be bothered to take the simple precautions to keep herself from getting pregnant.

Oh, and just because neither of you had had sex before doesn't mean you can't get STI's. HIV can be transmitted by something as simple as an unsanitary piercing needle. Even if you guys are going to continue being reckless and ignorant, the very least you can do is get tested for STI's.

    It's not that odd.

"During the first two days of a woman’s cycle (day 1 being your first day of bleeding), the average risk of pregnancy is virtually zero. After the first two days, the risk starts to rise steadily, reaching 9% on or about day 13. Then it begins to decline slowly until it levels off at about 1% on day 25. It stays at about 1% for the rest of your cycle. (The average monthly cycle lasts 29 days, but it is perfectly normal to have a cycle that lasts as little as 20 days or less or as long as 40 days or more.) "

So even on your BEST day, you have a very low chance of conception. I believe I read on a condom insert once that NO method is around 85% effective (if effective is the right word) while a properly used condom is 96% effective, pill being 99% effective. So really not a high chance of pregnancy, but why chance it really? ;) At least maybe use a spermicidal lube!

pulling out if done property and with combination of avoiding "heat" days can be really really effective

When I was 17-19 I was with the same guy. Never used protection and the pill always screwed me up so I didn't take them. I didn't get pregnant and he didn't always pull out. I was always aware of my cycle though. I knew when I was or wasn't ovulating. Then one time when we had been broken up for months I needed a booty call and ended up pregnant because of it. We still didn't get back together but remained friends and now I have the best kid anyone could ever ask for. I don't regret it one bit, but you still need to be more careful

You may want to get tested for infertility. It could just be dumb luck, but you never know. It could be anything, though, he could have a lower-than-average sperm count, and you could have miscarried before you knew you could know you were pregnant.

It's probably not normal, but nothing to worry about.

Dudes. Stop saying how stupid and irresponsible it is. OBVIOUSLY, the original poster already knows that, you sound like a broken record.

My ex and I use to have unprotected sex for 6-7months, and I'm talkin' about 6 times a week at minimum. I remember having the conversation w/her a while back when she got a little concerned about her fertility. She was fine, whether we always fuckin' on the right time or dumb luck, we pulled it off too. Haha

It's probably nothing to worry about. My cousin tried to get pregnant for a year before actually getting pregnant. If I were you I'd go to the nearest health unit and get birth control. Cause if it's dumb luck it will run out. You seem smart enough to realize your not ready for children so you def need to get birth control.

Unlike everyone else I will answer your question from my experience. I have been doing the same with my boyfriend for a year and I still haven't gotten pregnant. Pre cum alone won't get you pregant. Pre cum helps sperm swim but actually has no sperm in it. If you have sex again after he cums that can be dangerous since there's a little cum still left inside, and the pre cum in you will make that little amount travel far. Research this yourself if you don't believe me. Anyway it's safer to do it again after he pees. I don't think it's that unsafe a method if you really trust him to pull out and he trusts himself. If you are careful like I've talked about it's normal to not be pregnant yet, but of course there's risks... But use the morning after pill if you or him aren't certain that no cum got in you.

Be careful. Same thing happened with me and my now- husband. We ended up getting pregnant after about a year and a half and now have a four year old daughter. We got smarter after that- got on birth control, got married, and then planned and had our second child. Just be careful, luck runs out. You can only get pregnant a couple days a month anyway and you may hit one of those days next time.
