Not to feel home sick at all

It's been two years that I'm living out of my country. Not Even in an English Speaking country. So after 15 years of studying English I had to learn the new language. Also a new culture. and the thing is I never miss home. I used to feel like a stranger in my own country. I always wondered how people get home sick after some time being far from their mother land. I can't understand it. Cause I hadn't put it to the test I used to doubt about it. But now I feel sure and good cause my life style and mindset and feelings are all alligned and in harmony. Where you live and make friends is your home. what do you think? Is it Normal?

I have lived in many different countries over the years, and have finally settled in one that is literally the other side of the world to where I came from.

I have never felt homesick, not even for an hour.

Lots of people feel homesick because once they move away from wherever home is for them, they start to fabricate an idealised version of the place.

It's sort of like how when we break up with someone, there often comes a point where our minds haze over all their bad points and the reason we split, but we do remember the reasons we got together in the first place. So we can start to miss their good qualities and we at least toy with the idea of getting back together.

I was born and grew up in the USA. I left there when I was in my early twenties, and I've only visited twice since then, the most recent visit being nearly 40 years ago. In my early years of living in Europe, there were things I missed about the USA, but I never really felt homesick. After living in the UK for around 30 years, I moved to Italy. While I was there, I was never homesick for Britain. Since moving back to the UK nearly a decade ago, I've never seriously missed living in Italy.

There were good things about all those places which I remember fondly and the time I spent living in each of them played a role in making me who I am today, but I've never really felt that I 'belonged' to any particular place. Wherever I am is my home, and since I can't get away from myself, I can't really ever be homesick.
