Not being able to eat. :l

Okay well i'm a Junior in Highschool, and i started smoking in 8th grade. (thanks to my stupid friends)
I honestly do regret EVER EVEN TRYING ONE! and i always make myself feel guilty about it, but anyway i have been trying to stop smoking, but every-time i do, something weird happens. I tried to stop smoking. It last for 2 weeks, and that whole 2 weeks i can honestly say i only ate about 3 times. whenever i don t smoke i feel like im not hungry either.
I lost 10 pounds and my parents started questioning why i was losing weight.
Is that normal?

Smoking usually decreases appetite so your lack of one is a normal effect. I would suggest that you either stop smoking them or you cut down on the amount you smoke per day. Then again, if you're becoming addicted to them it wouldn't be smart to suddenly stop as you could go through withdrawal. That being said, gradually cutting down the amount you smoke should help. You need try to gain back that extra weight especially since your parents are starting to take notice. But one thing I'm curious about is how they seem not to be able to smell the scent of tobacco on you?

I'm in year 9 and I've been smoking since year 8. I'm not saying it's good, but if you cut down to 2 packs a week, you're set. Also, get electric cigarettes, they're a lot healthier for you.

I've seen this guy smoking them in CLASS, no joke, he can do it because they're electric so they don't smoke or set on fire :L

Loss of appetite is one of the risks of going cold turkey. If you were addicted, withdrawal can = depressive symptoms which can = loss of appetite. If your problem goes on too much longer I'd think about seeing a doctor because this clearly isn't healthy.

If you're talking about weed, I feel ya. I don't eat much except when I smoke. I don't smoke every day, but a few times a week usually. When I stop for longer than a day or two I'm never hungry.

Yeah I'm wondering too if you mean weed or cigarettes, it sounds like you're talking about cigarettes but that's the opposite response most people have. I quit for 2 months once and I was munching like crazy, like Neuro said it appeases that oral fixation. Even now as a smoker sometimes I'll want a cigarette when I'm hungry, or vice versa.

With weed it can make it more difficult to eat, but "withdraw" symptoms shouldn't last more than a week or so generally speaking. You might just need to resolve to quit and push yourself to eat healthily until it's over, even if you don't feel hungry your body needs it. Go for things like oatmeal, bananas, toast with peanut buter, puddings, soups. Things that will be easy to eat even if your appetite is suffering.

Are you talking about weed or cigarettes? What is it that you are smoking?

For cigarettes, that is unusual. Usually, smoking inhibits appetite and I know that when I quit smoking, I could not stop eating. Part of it has to do with the oral fixation that is "appeased" when you smoke. Part of it has to do with chemicals. I would suggest that you see a doctor and ask them for medication to help you quit.

I took medication to help me quit smoking and well... It worked GREAT, FABULOUSLY, but I had to quit taking it because it gave me nausea. I never consulted my doctor about it, but I am pretty sure it is not a common side-effect.

I quit smoking in January and I feel great. I would recommend you quit and try to establish a regular eating regimen.

Weed increases appetite, I think? That's probably why.

You know I've tried to stop smoking maybe seven or eight times. Once I stopped for nine months then start again just to annoy a boy I was with and that was so stupid. I will quit one day and I hope I will be able to quit for good. When I don't smoke I feel dizzy and nauseaous but I eat a lot and I gain weight.

Saying that you'll "stop one day' is just an excuse for you to not try and stop.
