Nose job?

Is it normal that I really really want to get a nose job? I have always felt like my nose was too big, and I know that I would look much prettier with a smaller nose. People tell me that I'm pretty, but I don't believe them. Maybe when I finally get a nose job, I will feel like I'm pretty.

If you don't think you are pretty now, getting a nose job won't make you feel pretty.
It pretty common to feel that you are less pretty than you really are.

If however you get to the point where you honestly think you are pretty and in fact nearly perfect and a slight tweak would make you the most perfect woman on earth then go for it. In other words when you think you are pretty enough that you could do just fine without a nose job, but you are kind of curious to see whether it would help you go from a 9.5 to a 10, then go for it.

You need to fix the problem of not feeling pretty first, before you have the nose job.

    Now to practical matters:
A lot of nose jobs come out wrong, just google "bad plastic surgery" or "awful plastic surgery" and these tragedies happen to celebrities with a lot of money and access to the top doctors. If you already think you are pretty and the nose job doesn't quite come out as you imagined you will find yourself a little less pretty but you won't be devastated. If you think you are not pretty and you are relying on the nose job to make you pretty and it comes out bad, then you will be even worse off than you were before and you will feel hopeless and have to keep tweaking until you end up like Michael Jackson.

Also make sure you can pay cash for it, don't put it on credit cards. Save for it, if you start feeling so pretty that you change your mind about doing it you'll have the bonus of extra cash, and if you decide you still want it you would have had some time to work on feeling pretty without the new nose.

Consider that you might be wrong in your assessment about how you look and you are probably prettier than you think you are.

Never date guys who make you feel less attractive or put you down in any way.

Do not hang around friends or other people who put you down. Protect yourself while you build your self esteem. There are some ugly envious people out there who think they can just freely attack better looking people, don't let them do that to you.

Then there is the short-cut to everything - go to a shrink, just a quick consult to make sure you don't have body-dysmorphic disorder which you most likely don't since you don't actually think you're ugly and also get some tips on how to see yourself more as you are and as others see you.

    Good luck gorgeous!

I know EXACTLY how you feel! I HATE the way my nose looks in pictures, even though people tell me I'm pretty and there's nothing wrong with my nose. Would also like more plastic surgery in other areas...

If it bothers you to the point that it effects your self esteem then I would say it is worth changing. People may say you are pretty and for all I know you may be georgous but if you don't feel pretty then it dosen't really matter. If a nosejob will make you feel pretty then do it.

  • mtnw, you just told me that a. my nose might be horrid-looking, and b. don't ever get anything done to it. That's confusing.

sorry for the confusion, i'll try to be clearer.

if you feel that it will make you prettier, and it's important enough for you to consider, then do it

if you are over critical of yourself, maybe you should just think about it.

personally, i would avoid surgery on my face, but i wasn't telling you not to do it.

mie is right. maybe you have one of those real horrid noses, (you don't state that though) and should have it done. but, maybe you are one of those who are too highly self critical.

at any rate, it all depends on your age and financial status. because surgeries do go wrong, i wouldn't gamble on my face.
