Normal to not forget about a boyfriend for so long?

Im a 28 year old woman now.
There was this guy i met when i was 12 i think ,we went to the same school and had same classes ,he was like my best friend i ever had .

In my high school senior year we starting dating and i was the happiest girl in the world , i really loved him from all my heart .

We graduated and went to the same university and studied the same major because we wanted to be together all the time which was perfect,he was really the guy of my dreams and i had our future plans figured out .

One day before we graduate by 4 months he tells me that we need to break up because he's travelling to another country, he didnt even tell me where to .. anyway i said ok and smiled because i thought hes joking or pranking me (he loved to do that) the next day i call him and his number is closed , but he calls me from a private number to tell me that he is actually leaving.we never spoke after that because he changed his number and deactivated his facebook.

he didnt break my heart he Fucking destroyed it,and i am thinking about him almost everynight for 5 years ,i hope someone can relate and try to help me!!

  • Its so hard to get over someone when they leave and everything still seems unresolved. I had something similar. Took about 5 years (and meeting the next big love of my life) to get over it.

      • I think you will. What's probably hard at this point is separating out the idea of him and the plans you had from the reality. But it seems like you have the ability to care strongly about someone, which makes me think you will love again. Could happen at any time. Probably when you're not looking.

5 years?! There isn't any advice this website is going to give you if you are able to keep up an infatuation for THAT long without regularly seeing the person.
