    If you're using your hand, it's not sex because you're not really having sex with your hand.

    If you're fucking something like a fleshlight or your grandma's pecan pie, then it's sex because you're having sex with an object that is not part of you.

      I guess some people would say that it's not sex unless there's at least one other person involved, so even two homosexual men going at would be sex, but beating off isn't. But I think that if you're using anything to build yourself up to ejaculation whether it's a pussy, an asshole, someone else's fingers, or your own hand, it's still sex.

    Masturbation is a sexual act since it involves the genitals and sexual pleasure (or should).

    It seems to me that "sex" is generally used as a shorthand way of saying "sexual intercourse".

      I think sex can exist in a single person encounter. I don't fuck my teddy bear and then say I masturbated...I say I had sex with it.

      I don't normally refer to like...direct masturbation as sex but I think it is a form of sex that I just get slightly more specific with to avoid like...confusing people. Because if you're single and you have been single and you say, "I had sex last night." they automatically think it was with a person. I also don't usually just say, "I had sex last night" I get a bit descriptive, "I got fucked last night" or "I fucked my plushie." to describe the direction of the action taking place...Since plushies can't fuck...unfortunately....please science give me a giant robotic teddy bear with a cock sometime in the near future...my hips need to be sore from that..

      It can be more than 2 people too, it can be a threesome, a foursome, or a gang bang, or it can just be yourself. It's when somebody in some kind of way is getting aroused and then climaxing or ejaculating whether it's one person or more.

              I wasn't trying to pray that masturbation was sex, I was just kind of hanging in the middle between the two possibilities of masturbation being or not being sex, just curious which one was true.
