Normal for friend to tell me it's good i have fibromyalgia

My friend said to me it's good you have it though because it helps you know you're alive. Stress can be good.

I've had it for 7 years now. I'm constantly in agonizing pain, stay home 99% of the time. Can't even watch t.v. without being in major pain. It's bad and never stops even for a minute and she's telling me it's good because I know I'm alive. Well I don't feel very alive ever..

    What a knob.
Next time your friend stubs her toe tell her the same thing, see how she responds.

Maybe they just don't know what to say and were trying to make you feel better. Sometimes people who don't have much life experience just don't know what to say when confronted with someone else's problems so they come out with stupid shit.

I'm not excusing it, it's still a retarded thing to say. Just trying to understand.

That's not a friend, that's an insensitive moron. Fibromyalgia is more than enough for you to deal with: lose this idiot from your life.

Your friend is probably trying to look on some sort of bright side. They're being a douche though by saying that.

I'm sorry about your fibromyalgia, dear heart. It seems that your so called "friend", is a big ole jackass.

I was actually diagnosed as having myofascial pain by a rheumatologist, and I get all sorts of pain that makes feel like crap, but I doubt that my pain is as bad as what you're experiencing. I also have a lot of chronic sinus problems as a result of my allergies which leaves me with a near perpetual headache in the spring, a fall.

Additionally I have a spastic colon which is a whole other pain in the ass.

Anyway, perhaps you might feel inclined to question some aspects of the friendship you have with this individual who not only lacks appropriate empathy for your struggles with chronic pain, but is invalidating as well. Maybe the next time this person gets a headache, or a rather vigorous bout of diarrhea you can remind him, or her that, "it's okay, because at least you know you're alive". People can be major league assholes.

I dunno, what you take for your pain, but I have a prescription for Cymbalta, and I use CBD oil as well. I hope you find something that helps you. God bless you, OP, and you know that I wish you all the best!

  • Tell your friend about how much pain you’re in and how it hurts to move. You can feel alive without being in pain.
