Safe and is it normal? My guy friend is mature, but he tells me Oh yeah, I have a new girlfriend. I'm like okay, how old? 17..
I almost died. Isn't that too young?? She's just a kid compared to him, no?
I can see your concern but it's really not that bad. 6 years plus she's past the age of consent. I've seen much worse.
No, girls are naturally attracted to older guys and guys are naturally attracted to younger girls.
It's totally normal, especially for girls that age to want to date older men.
When I was 16, I was dating a guy who was 24. He was awesome, and we were together almost 2 years before I broke up with him (for underlying reasons that had to do with my own sexuality).
1st of all i say look up the age of consent laws in your state. Age of consent is differant than being an adult. Most states are around 16. some less, and some 18. Some states also have differant laws for boys than girls. Only 100 years ago, 13 year olds married guys in their 40s and had large farms and families. strange how now we worry about a 17 year old thats probably been having sex for 3 or 4 years already. Maturity is the issue, not age when she is 17. Read your laws, and if she is legal and consenting go for it. I dated a 16 year old when i was 22. Also when i was 16 i dated many older women. I learned a lot, thanks to those cougars ;)
Not that big a deal in reality. In other cultures it's no big deal. But in the immature U.S. culture it is an issue. For one thing, it is illegal if they are having sex, and he can go to jail. Further, it is frowned upon even if they aren't having sex. So it is a problem either way from a cultural or legal standpoint, or both.
Best for him to stay away from anyone under the legal age.
its normal. just because some is older, that doesnt mean they are more mature. or she could just be a mature 17 year old. who cares if they are happy to be together. its not illegal where i live.

Yeah, I always date older guy. Well, on the moment my bf is only 19 and i'm 17. But olders are mature and in general, being with a mature guy have a lot od advantages :)
Somewhat of a difficult question, and depends on the individuals involved. However the older you get the larger the age gap can be.A rule of thumb...until an individual reaches 18, age spread should be 4 yrs or less.

6 years isn't that big of an age difference. but whether or not it's legal depends where you live. where i live (ohio), you're a legal adult when you're 18.
I think age doesn't matter...then again, I've been raised with my mom dating a guy who is 20 years older than her, while the biggest age difference I've dated is 10 years...it may be a little odd, but as long as they're happy why should it matter =)
Not normal. Shes still considered a child in many countries. 23 is an adult. Qn adult dating a child (legally) doesnt seem quite right.
