Is it normal to not have television nor telephone in your home.
I m 24 years. I didnot have television and telephone in my house till i was 23 yrs.We could have easily afforded these things but my father did not care to buy these things.
The reason i m telling u is because I think not seeing TV has affected a lot like not coping with school life like when the boys talk about formula 1, football, wwf,movies n other shows i used to keep mum as i had no idea wht was going on TV.It has affected my perspective also. I find tht i dont hav views abt many topics and have narrow perspective.
Same is the case with not having telephone till I was 23yrs. Absolutely no contact with friends so no networking and not many friends.

Then i used to feel terribly shy when friends used to visit my house as i was ashamed not having TV and phone.

I regret the fact tht my father didnt care to buy these things when we could have easily afforded them, i was good in studies also.
I now tht having TV or phone is not the ultimate thing but i thnk when i was in the age of watching TV i didnot have tht privilege.
Now i m working and i know everythng has particular phase ans age in life to enjoy and now i prefer to concentrate on my wrk rather tht watch TV.

    A lot of people don't have a TV, bit it is kind if strange that you don't have a phone. Do you have a computer?

    It may not be normal however, it is not unusual. Would you rather focus on studies and not know the media or would you rather be fully entertained by vain entertainment wit h no value? I hardly watch TV and hardly use the phone at all. I don't even get a newspaper or even care about it. It has affected you but in a positive way it seems judging by your story.

    I can understand no tv. Now, no phone? They are very important for emergencies.

    Your dad was a very smart man! Tv is brainwashing... I only like history channel and science channel..

    Is it normal? No, but I've known several people who have grown up without tv and phones. They seem to be more aware of the world around them and more intelligent.
