No profile pictures

I'm just starting out here and after creating my account I've noticed there's no option to upload a profile pic. Maybe I have to have a certain amount of karma or something? Or maybe trolls had vulgar pic and were reported to many times that the feature was disabled?

Either way, now our profiles are just dull pages with only text.

Is it normal there's no profile pic option??

    It's not is it normal anymore. I miss profile photos. But now you have to buy gold

      I really don't get how this feature now costs money to get when it was free not too long ago. A profile picture is like the most basic thing on a site and every site I've been to has that feature for free. What the heck is the point of having to pay for it now? Is it to curb vulgar pictures or something?
