No job, no money, no social life, depression...help?

So basically, I'm a student in college at the moment and I've been desperately trying to get a part-time job, literally anywhere but everyone knows and everyone's telling me places are only laying off people right now and no one's hiring. The fact that all folk in my class have jobs and I don't is really depressing me because obviously they arrange nights out for a drink etc but I can't go cause I literally have no money. I'm not sure if it's just a bad time for employment at the moment or if it's my CV that's the problem or if I'm too inexperienced, I genuinely have no clue. Mainly I'm asking, is it normal to get genuinely depressed simply from having no money due to having no job? :(

  • Too many people allow their moods to be determined by external circumstance. At some point in life you're gonna have to CHOOSE to be happy even in the midst of a battle.

    "How do I do that?"

If the eye is dark, then so is the soul. In other words, what you reflect on (think on) is what you'll be internally. Reflect on the fact that you're healthy, young, and articulate and it'll change you. Focus solely on the negative and that too will change you.

Why don't you tutor teenagers in your subjects?

The same for the OP - why don't you advertise to tutor in any subject that you have great grades.

Despite the recession parents rarely make cutbacks on their children's education!

  • Welcome to the real world. Sorry, but it's true. You're normal to feel bummed out, but you've got to solve your own problems and make the best of it. Instead of focusing on what you don't have, focus on what you do have and go from there.
