Night terrors & sleep walking

One of my friends can't go on sleepovers or any kind of overnight trips because she's afraid that she's going to have a night terror or start sleep walking. I can understand why because when we did actually go on a week long trip, she woke up in the middle of the night screaming "AHHHH!! *sits up, gets out of bed* come of you guys, we're going to be late! Come on, why aren't you getting up?!?" Apparently, her scream was loud enough for her mother (a chaperone) to come rushing in to comfort her. My friend ended up sleeping in her mom's hotel room for the rest of the week. Now we are left wondering what she will do in college because she can't even go on a simple weekend girl scout trip. (she takes sleeping pills but it doesn't help) We don't make fun of her night terrors or sleepwalking, in fact we try to reassure her about it, but she's still too self conscious about it all. Has anyone else ever gone through these night terrors before? If so, is this behavior normal?

Maybe she should have a consult with her doctor. This may be caused by some sort of brain problem.

Not normal..and sad. She should try changing or getting off meds. Some can actually cause that behavior.
