Never shave or shower?

I have a friend who has extremly hairy legs. Whenever i tell her she needs to shave she says, "I do every two weeks." So i tell her she needs to shave more often and she says, "Ok." But she still never shaves. She also only showers twice a month. So i told her she needs to shower more often and she said, "Oh i cant because of our water." Even my other friend told her she can shower at her house but she still refused. Some people at school are starting to talk about her and i feel bad for her but i am disgusted that she does that. Is that normal?

    Leave her alone.

Shaving isn't a necessary thing, it's more of a self comfort thing. She obviously doesn't care what other people think of her so why should you?!?

It sounds like she needs to shower more, but the shaving part, that's her business. I mean, she can't possibly wear skirts and shorts everyday all year, right? Well, I guess it depends how warm it is by you. But I live in New York, and it's warm for only a short period of time. Then I'm pretty much freezing my arse off the rest of the time.

Sounds like there may be another reason for her actions. (By her water, she may mean no hot water system or something)

Well first of all shaving legs is NOT a hygiene issue.

If it was then you'd shave your head vs washing your hair.

as for why she doesn't shower... perhaps it is a water issue.
And she just may turn down your offer of a shower because of pride... and because she may find the constant offers condescending.

I would suggest leaving her alone.

No, it isn't normal. Especially if it's starting to affect others. Perhaps you should talk to the school/college counsellor about it, so that she can talk to her about it?

'The water' isn't an excuse, because she could well have used your friends shower, like you said. Sounds to me like there might be some other problem. Regardless, a professional should deal with it.

who painted her arse like a Dahlia
    the looks were quite nice
    the colours were quite bright
BUTT the smell was a helluva failure!

Do you not see where this might be a terribly embarassing situation for her? It sounds like this is new for her. Do you know what her home situation is like? Don't you think that she is aware of how bad she smells? If you claim to be her friend and are saying stuff like this, can you imagine what non-friends are saying to her? Are you even dimly aware of how heartless and bitchy girls can be to other girls? Maybe instead of being rude, maybe try to be her friend and try to find out what is going on in her life.

Nooooo, I mean the shaving, big deal; guys don't shave their legs, why should women have to?

But the shower thing... ew. I'm sorry but that girl is just GROSS, not to mention she's cruising for some MAJOR infections. I wouldn't want to sit next to her, I wouldn't want to share a bus with her, I wouldn't want to walk PAST her.

Tell her to shower up, every DAY, or go live in the Sahara or something where nobody will ever have to SMELL her.

    Normal to not shave.

Not normal to not shower, people shouldn't stink it smells bad for a reason, stinky smell is the bodies natural way of telling you to clean up.

@ any one time we have a million bacteria cells per cm of skin and about 75% that bacteria is good. Which is which shower gel is ordered over soap by the medical professionals because shower gel only removes the bad bacteria. Australian health standards says we should shower at least once every two days. So

When I lived with my parents, I couldn't take more than a 5min shower before my mom started yelling at me to get out. Poor families can't afford to pay for water bills. And going to someone else's house to shower is embarrassing imo.

Shaving the legs is less of a problem, the showering is. Tell her to get the bathroom fixed or suggest deodryant and until then leave her alone about the issue, she probably wouldn't accept your offer because she feels embarassed.

not shaving legs is ok, i hardly ever shave mine cos i always wear jeans :) but not showering is gross! people should shower every day or every two days- even if i did have a water issue i would shower at a friends. you could try talking to her, without being judgemental. just say your worried about her health and higiene.

Ew. Just ew. That is so unhygienic, she could get severely ill because of the germs festering on her skin and in her hair.
