Never heard of a reaction like this
Hi, I went to have oral surgery in the doctors office. When I woke up not only was the procedure not a success but I was having a awefull "reaction".
The dr said it was b/c of the pain medicine I take for a seperate condition. My legs were moving uncontrolably. They absolutley ached if if tried to keep them still. I wanted to get up but I was strapped to the chair. They kept telling me it would "ware off in a few hours". Which it did.
However, I told the doctor several times before my surgery date about the med's I take for the another serious conditon. He did not seem concerned at all. The day of surgery I told his nurse that I took the med with just a minute sip of water and when the dr came in to start the IV I also told him as well. Again, he didnt seem concerned. When he told me he was going to give me a dose of somekind of med in the IV that would help with vomiting if I felt like I was going to get sick while "under the anesthia", thats the last thing I remember. After that I was wakin up to the scary, uncontrolably reaction.
Now my surgery is scheduled for one week from today but in a hospital setting as an outpatient. The dr told me that they could give me a different type of anesthia there and I would do so much better with this other type. One of my many questions is this- if he knew I would have this kind of reaction to the anesthia he used in his office why didn't he set the surgery up at the hosp to begin with?
I've never had any serious reactions to ga before, nothing as serious as what I've been reading about. I pray you all recover completely from your ordeal as I pray I am able to have this next surgery and recoperate without any issues this time.
