There seems to be a myth that the native Americans, before Europeans settled there, were peaceful. That's far from the truth. Before Europeans landed, the natives were murdering, raping, and driving-out each other from their lands. But when Europeans do the exact same thing they've been doing for thousands of years, it's somehow worse, for some reason.
... Okay, and? That doesn’t change the fact that all the things the invading Europeans did to them were still evil, no matter who it was directed towards.
No racial group has a completely peaceful history, at all. But what whites did to Native Americans, and continue to do, is abhorrent. Discrimination did not end with the 19th century. Indigenous women are still being sterilized, often without their consent to this day:

The horrific treatment of indigenous peoples still continues to this day, that's just one example. In fact, I would go to say they are the most ignored minority. There was intentional and systematic genocide against native Americans by Europeans. Smallpox blankets, intentionally wiping out buffalo so they had no food supply, etc. What they did to each other before Europeans arrived is irrelevant.
Do not try and downplay and sanitize history because it makes you uncomfortable white people get portrayed as bad in a lot of modern (1400s-present) history.
It reminds me of people justifying police shooting unarmed black people because black people get most often murdered by other black people. That's a completely different conversation.

I lived next to a Navajo rezzie briefly and the living conditions were fucking deplorable. Just...one of the most horrible things I have ever seen in my life. And these people were war heroes in American history.
And i really doubled down on my feelings when i moved to australia. Their indigenous (on the other side of the mf planet) population is plagued by the same issues as American indigenous, Canadian, Kiwi, it's fucking everywhere.

Natives are always portrayed as super wise and one with the earth in television. In reality they burned babies alive in their freetime.

White guilt has something to do with our under reporting of other cultures misdeeds for sure. But it doesn’t diminish the atrocities on our side at the same time.

They were not a homogeneous group. There were many different tribes, with exceedingly different spiritual beliefs and lifestyles. Some were incredibly and brutally violent. Some were mf maze eating pacifists.

Very few people in this world live on land that hadn't at one time been conquered from someone else. Every people have suffered from war and most often it is over real estate.
They were much worse. Comanches would torture anyone they could from another tribe or white people. Torture was part of their culture. At one point they negotiated trading prisoners with a local Texas government and when they brought their prisoners they were badly beaten and one missing an eyeball they were visibly in terrible shape, her nose had been burnt off. The camanches didnt understand why the white people were upset about the state of the prisoners because thats how they thought you were supposed to treat prisoners. The Texans then killed the whole group of camanches right there then after that they went and hunted and killed as many as they could. This was after trying to negotiate peace with them they were too crazy and uncivilized to even deal with and they were better off dead. If you think hitler was bad you should read about these guys.

All cultures and groups of people in the world have violent pasts; and the vast majority of them learned to live in more peaceful ways.
However, it was the American Indians from largely the New York State and related part of Canada that actually invented the base of the American Democracy after the warring tribes found a way to form peace and peacefully resolve disputes and issues.
The founding fathers of the United States actually studied that Indian confederacy as no similar form of government existed in Europe or in the history books.
Just one of many things that was washed from the modern history books; but is evident in the known writings of the founding fathers.
Back in those colonial days the Europeans used to do the same thing to each other, in addition to doing it to people in the new world.

Yeah, it could be argued that it was worse for Europeans to do it since it wasn't their land to fight over, but then colonisation is just what people did back then. The Native Americans would've done exactly the same to the Europeans if they had had the chance, and would've claimed to be the superior race. I'm not saying that Native Americans have nothing to complain about though, since racism stemming from the past has continued up to modern times. But I just don't like people judging past people using modern standards.

Exactly, humans are just really violent in general. And the main reason why some aren't is just because they were lucky enough not to have been born into a situation that would encourage them to be violent (eg. a society where colonisation is encouraged and admired, a tribe where the members reinforce their own hatred of the enemy, extreme poverty, a cruel upbringing, etc.).
The thing about native Americans is that they weren't one singular monolithic culture. There were multiple different tribes and nations, each with their own cultures. Some were peaceful, some were war-like. As has already been said here, every culture has stains on their history. One side's bad behavior does not excuse the bad behavior of the other side.
