My wife expected a valentine’s gift because her friends got one
I told her she's not like her friends. She doesn't have a job or kids. Now she's not talking to me. Should I get some valentine's garbage from walmart just to placate her?

You don't sound like a very loving husband to her at all. No offense, but I honestly feel sorry for her.
Why does being unemployed or childless make someone less deserving of a Valentine’s Day gift?
While I do think Valentine's Day is a BS holiday, I still go out of my way to buy my boyfriend presents and take him out for dinner. Lighten up, dude.
^This^ I do the whole Valentines Day stuff only for my girlfriend. She loves the whole present reveal, romantic dinner and all the candlelight goodness around the whole thing. Goes on instagram posting romantic pictures with dumb captions, feeling euphoric.
She's happy, so I guess I'm happy too...
OP should be less of a dork and do something nice for his wife.
My wife doesnt work either. If you feel some type of way about her not having kids then knock her up. Not giving her a Valentine's day gift is mean. Especially if you didnt forget and did it out of spite.
My mother has been a housewife for the majority of her 50 plus year marriage to my father, and he gets her gifts for Saint Valentine's Day every year!
Get her a little something. Women appreciate those things especially on Feb. 14th.
That is one of the Pain in the butt parts of marriage is that you have to go through the motions of holidays. Around here for Valentine's Day, my roommate and I raided the store for the candy that's half price. usually I end up buying it and I tell her, well at least you can say you got something for Valentine's Day. We're just friends and all but yes, half off Valentine's Day candy is an important holiday
