My wife does not like to travel but i do

So I really like to travel. I used to travel by myself a lot and loved it, travelling is even how I met my wife actually. But problem is she does not like to travel. She makes excuses not to travel, like money, vacation time etc. But truth be told she is just scared of airplanes and is a borderline workaholic.

I really have the travel bug and am considering telling her I am going to visit my parents for 2 weeks, knowing that she will only really expect a text or two while I am gone. But the thing is I want to go to Japan instead while she thinks I'm in Chicago.

    What's the point of lying? Tell her where you're going and ask her to come with you: if she refuses, go alone.
    The fact that you're thinking of lying to her about it is more of a problem in a marriage than different attitudes to travel.

              Its only the best policy for people who want to know things that are none of their business.

              IMO, if she does not need to know there is no reason to tell her...she's not going so she don't need to know.

    How about you ask her wherr she would like to travel instead of telling her lets go her or there. Maybe that's is the problem. Or she genuinely dosent like to travel.

    I don't know if she has money issues and hates the idea of spending money to visit other countries. This should not stop you if you can afford to take the trip. I love visiting Asian Countries, the people in most part are very friendly and it is not so expensive either. It's nice to expand your horizons before something happens where you may not be able to travel. I had a friend who had a girlfriend who hated to leave the apartment. She would work then would only leave the apartment to go to the store. She claimed she would get car sick. If the wife wants to stay home, let her.

        Thought you might like the variety. Perhaps she is severely understimulated. Day trips to the beach, or mountains for hiking are might work. You can explore quaint little towns, be charming, make her rediscover her sense of flair.

    Side note- neither of us have been on a cruise, so I found a nice 3-4 day cruise just to kind of break the ice to cruising. If we liked it I found some longer cruises I would like to go on maybe 7-10 days. I'm thinking of going it alone instead too.

    I say its about time you went to see your folks.

    Don't forget to turn off Google maps or else she can track your location. Don't get hurt and pay in cash or not a shared credit card.

    Take some Viagra and some condoms just in case you have an encounter with one of the wild natives.
