I live in a very small town. This morning when I woke my daughter up to get ready for school I noticed a weird smell, kind of like a skunk. I walked outside and the smell of skunk was very strong. I figured my outside dog got sprayed and just played it off. However when driving my daughter to school I noticed the smell the whole way to her school, and at the gas station it was very strong too. I then went to my job where it stuck extremely bad. Is it normal that my whole town smells like a skunk?

    I understand exactly what you mean, OP.

    The other day I was walking around and the whole city was shaded. Like as if every light was dimmed and every corner darkened.

    Then I took off my sunshades and it hit me: Today was an overcast day. That explains everything!

    That happens here in San Diego too.

    It could be a prevailing wind that picked up the smell or it could be that either you or someone else ran over the skunk and carried the smell on your tires wherever you or they drove.
