My views on prostitution.

I was just having a debate woth a friend who thinks prostituation is immoral
Personally I think it should be legal as long as it is between consenting adults.

I do think It should be government regulated so the prostitutes are regularly checked for diseases and put on birth control.

I even think it is an admirable job because there are lots of men who cannot get laid and some who are crazy enough to shoot up a school if they don't, and thanks to whores, we do not have to worry about those people.

I would be interested to hear others opinions

    Perhaps, in many cases, it is paying for companionship more than the sex. There seem to be plenty of miserable, lonely guys on here who would probably prefer the companionship of a woman, even if they had to pay for it, rather than spend their time alone, looking at their computer screen.

    Personally, I think it should be legal. I don't like prostitution, I think it's a sleezy thing that has benefits but I also accept it's not my choice nor should it be.

    The idea of government regulated prostitution is good to ensure it's disaease free, ensure clients are disease free, and so on. I also think it should be public information if that makes sense? So that people could know if someone has had such a history? I don't know how it would work or if it would be allowed to work but I'd hate to end up being with someone who used to be a prostitute but that's just me.

    Overall I'm not a fan of prostitution but I'm in support of it being legal.

      Bit harsh, don't you think? Having to work as a prostitute is degrading enough for those that don't have much other choice. They shouldn't be punished for it for the rest of their lives as well...

        I'm not saying that being a prostitute is a bad thing, I'm just saying that it's not something I would prefer a partner to have a history of. I'm not saying they're bad people nor trying to force my views on the matter on to others about it.

        Meh, maybe it is degrading to some but there are people that like it, I'm sure.

        I agree that some people go in to prostitution because they don't have any other choice but at the same time I'd want to know if someone I was interested in had a history of it.

        I'm not saying they would be bad people, I'm not saying people should think they're bad people, I'm just saying it's something that's against my preference.

          Oh, I thought you were thinking more of an employment situation. But for a relationship, yeh I can see where you're coming from.
          Fair enough. I would want to know that too - and you'd hope they would be honest about it; you have a right to know.
          But even still, I wouldn't want to tar people with it by having it on public record.

    You're not the first one to notice this. It's kind of an open secret. In ancient Arab during the expansion of Islam the law was very strict and religion based, yet prostitution was not made illegal. Because they realized that it was the only way to prevent crimes like rape.
    Same goes for Japan's Edo period.

    Legalized and regulated doesn't do shit for the bottom-rung streetwalkers. Most wouldn't be able to work legally (drugs, looks, diseases, criminal record) and it's not like they are going to quit prostituting just cause they can't work legally.

    Moral or not, it happens anyway. So why punish people who are already at the bottom of social ladder? Regulate it, make it safe.
    There might be some women who choose to be prostitutes, who actually enjoy it. But I think the vast majority do it because they don't have much other choice. And it's a shitty, shitty job. So instead of kicking people when they're down, I think we would be better as a society to be helping them stay safe, at the very least. Not making them criminals would be a start.

    If you dont get laid and the only option for you is to go to the red light district to find whores. But the only whore who is there is your mother...would you do her? ...now dont worry she is checked for diseases.

      Personally I am not interested in paying for sex, but I can see why someone might be.
      Of course I would not want to fuck my mother. That was completely irrevlant. The guy I was debating with earlier said the same thing and of course that sounds just absurd that anyone would want to have sex with their family. That is besides the point. My point is that there are people who want to pay for sex, and they should have that option, and people who want to volunteer for that job should have the right to do what they want with themselves.

        Then why dont they themself become prostitutes...i mean it would be much easier for them to have sex...and they dont even have to pay they will get paid. This would be fair right.

          Because there is more demand for female prostitutes than male ones.
          Females can easily get laid if they make a public offer but males would not be so sucessful as a prostituate unless they were well skilled and physically fit, which is not the typical description of your average prostitute consumer.
