My views on humanity.

I recently wrote a post regarding if life is a punishment or not and this is somewhat of a related topic to that thought.

People often will ask what makes something right or wrong.
The problem is this is not something you must ask others, but ask yourself.
Throughout history we have seen examples where regular people do horrible things, often in groups, because they are told it is ok.
At times humans will let others suffer if their group condones it. There are countless examples of this.
Why are they afraid to speak out when they should realize something is not right? What is so hard about having an opinion?
When we are told something we must investigate those claims for ourselves rather than follow them. The easy answer is rarely the correct one.
What concerns me is not the damage one person with evil intentions can do, but the damage that comes from a group of cowards and followers.

Too much emphasis on "fitting in", as a natural human feeling, I'd guess.. It's funny, to be a good person in the situations you describe you kind of have to be like a sociopath but on the opposite spectrum (apathy replaced with empathy, but still no concern with what's socially proper). I know of all those social observations/experiments and how they make it seem like even if you say it's wrong by looking at them, if you were actually there you would behave the same way, subconsciously, as a human. So, I try to keep those in mind, for example when i see someone struggling, and since ive given up on "fitting in" i feel more comfortable to offer help. It's always small things, but if its like you said in your other story and this life is our punishment (I've kinda thought the same thing) then mine is so light compared to others, that I might as well share my good fortune.

People are sheep, most of them are too dumb to think for themselves.

    Because we are social animals.
