The Top Ten Identifiers of an emo fag:
1a. Black hair that is engineered to look messy and greasy (though not spiky enough to be "punk") and must cover at least 60% of the face. Note: Do not confuse this with a much broader range of stupid looking, messy on purpose hair, usually belonging to a scenester.
1b. If the hair is not ridiculously greasy and/or black, the hair is preened in some ridiculously outdated and hideous style, that, again, must cover at least 60% of the face.
2. Girl's jeans. My personal theory is that they wear these pants to accentuate their genitalia, but as we all know that emo fags never have any use for their genitalia
3a. A very tight argyle sweater, even in the summer time.
3b. A very tight T-shirt, maybe a girl's "babydoll" T-shirt, usually adorned with a picture of a band that is very hard to listen to.
4. Extreme skinniness, not natural thinness, but more of an emaciated form, almost as if they are too sad to eat.
5. An uncomfortable looking scarf, even in hot weather. Usually in some ironic, plaid or striped pattern.
6. (Optional) Trite box-frame glasses, used to make said emo fag look intellectual. In many cases, these glasses are non-prescription. If in any event you discover that an emo fag you see is wearing glasses they do not need, it is policy to grab and destroy these, preferrably in front of him and his emo fag friends.
7. Converse All-Star shoes, mainly black (and sometimes they will spend extra money to get the kind with black rubber), but some presistent emo fags will go out of their way to purchase this style of shoe in some garish pastel color off the Internet. They will 9 times out of 10 be in pristine condition (due to having 15 pairs), save for some Sharpie markings, usually some band name, or ridiculous lyrics.
8. A black leather belt with some form of metal stud worn around the beltline, but stupidly enough not threaded through the belt loops.
9. (Optional) Cliche tattoos/piercings, including a Cal Star (aka Nautical Star), lobe plugs (usually not ridiculously big like those body mod freakshows who don't like dealing with that pesky job market), barbed wire. Note: Some emo fags are too young to get piercings or tattoos, so they just tell everyone about what they're going to get. Sadly enough, this trend will have passed by the time they are old enough to get mutilated.
10. Really bad taste.
You sound a bit like a poseur goth. There's a whole subculture behind goth (appreciating the darker parts of life) & real goths don't label themselves!
If your not really goth why do you dress like one are you some type of wanna be
Being gothic is not just about the way you dress. It's about your interests and hobbies. Eg. I like Horror/gore films, poetry, the victorian era, creepy dolls, metal, bats, wolves, graveyards and old buildings like cathedrals, and I love art. See, if I didn't dress gothic, would I still be a goth? Indeedy. :)
Totally. ^^ I'm more a victoriany, lacey, fragile porcelain doll sort of gothic look. Then my music is so heavy, and I love doom metal. :)
Goth is a HUGE ganre. There a hundreds of sub ganre that are all considered "goth". I'm what you'd call gothic Lolita and there are no goth nightclubs anywhere near me, you don't have to listen just to the cure to be goth. I love nicki manaj as well as the birthday massacre.
It's normall. I dress very preppy/girly and I listen to heavy metal and acoustic and I play xbox live xD
hmmm emo and goth are just wierd demon wannabes or cry babies but i do like the female emo look
That would make you a poser my friend and that's fine. If it makes you happy to dress gothic even if you are not into the gothic lifestyle than do it. Just don't expect many normal people to accept you and don't expect every true gothic life-stylists to accept you. If anything both sides will hate you. I my self am more of a goth/metal head. Not really a poser just a blender of the two styles and yes I have worn make up. Eyeliner, nail polish, and lipstick. And no they were not always black. The way I look at it is if it feels good do it. If other people don't like it that's just to bad.

Go ahead. Be goth. I think goth music is a bunch of shit. Heavy Metal all the way. Just do not become EMO. There is a fine line, my friend. Good luck.
'Goth' is just a fashion statement...in fact you might not even be 'Goth' anymore anyhow. This post is at least a year old... Don't think of fashion styles as having different 'sects,' unless you mean it in jest. Why not experiment with different fashion styles?
This is the typical high school mentality: You think that the way you dress today is going to define the course of the rest of your life. What will define the rest of your life is what you read and study academically. When you're done studying, so you can have a career a few years from now, then get dressed and go out dancing that night; maybe "Goth" style...or Emo, or whatever floats your boat.
Of course it is normal. You are just doing your own thing and that's OK. Some people like the fashion of a certain subculture but just don't like the music. It's just what suits you best and that's all right.
i dont know if i would call it normal-per say, but i guess its not so bad.
I've been into gothic subculture and their philosophy and came to a conclusion it's better to just dress like a goth than actually let this sh*t affect your life. It can really damage one's psychic health.
So, I think you're absolutely normal. Especially, as long as you listen to any kind of metal, it's fine to wear 'dark' outfit. The connection between style and music is there anyway, no need to follow any strict rules. This underground stuff is about individuality anyway:)
I think what your doing is completely normal.
I'm not into labeling my style like some trivial people although most tend to think of me as 'goth' or 'emo' from time to time, I really don't care.
Who cares about your music and clothing taste? As long as you feel comfortable with your self there should be no problem. Who says all goths dress like that or listen to music like that anyways?
Some people (At least the people I know) are completely 'goth' and you can see them in something that only someone who is consider 'prep' would wear. Most people are surprised when I tell them that I listen to somethings that would be consider 'emo' or that some thing that 'some snobby rich kid' would listen too.
You're not a poser. Heck if we really wanted to pinpoint all the people who are by sticking a dot or something on them do you know how many people who you though were genuine would be wearing one. Point is (I'm a writer sorry...) if you honestly like what you like who's to tell you it's not normal or not, right?
So, what you're saying is that your fashion is goth, but your music taste isn't? BFD. Wear what you want, listen to what you want.
That's normal - there are many different types of 'gothic' - music, architecture, literature, clothes, etc... no one should discredit you or think you should like every aspect of gothic.
Whatever you're comfortable with.
Look, whats with all you haters?!,Okay this is a "is it normal" website, were not on here to critiscize about how people are!, there asking a questiong you fukwits answer it with a real,MEANINGFULL answer, god! get a life, and there is ALOT OF DIFFERENCE between "emo" and "goth" anubis, gothics arn't "wrist cutters" we dress the way we like, gothic has NOTHING to do with Wrist cutting?! wtf! get a life for go sake.
Oh, and yes, i however am goth, its normal, if you like it hun, go for it! it doesn't matter weather you dress like a goth and dont listen to thier type of music? you like it then forgod sake just do it!...
Super stereotypical story bro.
pop and heavy metal is an interesting combination, seriously.
It's really is normal, just because you have intrest in the art of it, doesn't mean you can't have other intrests... heh, i was born a metalhead, speed metal cradle of filth fanatic. but ranging from other genres i have liked techno, some of soft rock, and others. The only thing i despise is rap and hip-hop.
dress how you wanna dress! if you dont you will live unhapily! make the decision and dont look back just keep goin with what you like !!
This is Perfectly normal. Except, don't turn to the Emo Side and start cutting your wrists, stuff like that. I mean, their is nothing really wrong with that type of life style, except, don't end up , like abusing yourself, cutting ur wrists, ur throt, ,stuff like that.
Other than that, you really have nothing to worry about.
you should be ashamed of yourselves you blood sucking devil worshipping wrist cutting creeps! you make my blood run cold CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS!CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS!CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS! CREEPS!
Oh, so you're scared of us? And it seems that way because you know nothing about us. Perhaps you should learn something about someone before you go saying things like that. I'm a goth, I don't suck blood. O-o I don't worship the devil, and in fact, I don't believe he exists. And I don't cut my wrists, either! Although saying that I am creepy. ;3
BOO!
hmm i dont like the "goth" look
or the "emo"
but hey whatever blows your goat.
if you have a great personality thats all that matters?
LOL. I don't like the goth look. emo girls are very pretty, I wish I could do my hair like they do, but i don't know how. I don't think you are a wannabe, just be who you are, and do what you want to do, don't worry about what others think about you.
