My teacher might like me?

Things you should know first: im a senior girl and I'll be 18 in 2 months. He is 26 and really nice; I also wouldn't call him a perv, if anything he is the kind of person who is shy and very polite.

I've known him since my freshman year and he was a student teacher at the time and he was also in his first year working there. He also went to school with my twin cousins there. The first time i met him my teacher was absent and we had him for a sub that day and we watched a movie. He stared at me for almost the whole movie, I know this because the teachers desk was like 3 feet from the screen. He must have been staring at me because no one else was sitting around me. I had him alot that year, at least like 2-3 times a week because some of my teachers were out alot. I had him as a teacher my sophomore year for a few months because he was going to get his teaching degree afterwards and everyday he would talk to me about random and personal stuff. He would ask me things like what my favorite bands are, what music i listen to, ask me if i had siblings, what sports i like or play. Then he would tell me what things he liked. He likes alot of the same things i like which i thought was cool. Every time he sees me he always says hi and then my name and when I talk to him he stares directly into my eyes and never looks away, also smiles at me constantly. When I see him in hallways he always has to talk to me too. He just always stares at me and it's creepy; he's not like this with any of the other students. This is also weird, but when i wear shorts he stares at my legs. Like 3 of my friends say he likes me because he's different with me than anyone else.
So why is he doing this? Is it normal?

I'm having a hard time telling if you're enjoying this attention or not.

Up until you said it was "creepy" it sounded like you were falling in love with him.

So you might need to consider a few things
    1) Are you staring back at him? If you are then it may actually be *escalating* things between the two of you.

    2) Asking "random personal stuff" - as a teacher he may be trying to get to know the students. Does he only ask you questions or does he talk to others too?

    3) Always says hi to you - that may also mean nothing,

    4) Looking at your eyes when he talks to you - that too often means nothing. Plus if you're looking back at his eyes, then ...

Things you might want to consider...

    1) Don't stare back at him. Keep him at a distance. Be polite but don't get too personal.

    2) Understand that you ARE of legal age for him. You are off limits right now only because you're still a student. Once you graduate he can ask you out without any censure. You of course have the right to say no - or the right to ask him out first if you so choose.

    3) Figure out what YOU want. As I said before... until you said "creepy" it sounded like you were entranced by the thought of having his attention. You need to figure out if you want this, or if the reality of having an adult man is more than what you're ready for.

I agree with Angel. This is a slightly difficult situation. As long as he doesn't "try" anything with you. If it creeps you out, keep some distance between you.

Do you want his attention or not?

If you dont then dont feed into his attention at all.....limit the smiles, the eye contact, keep personal distance, etc...

If you do like it just wait a few months and then your good

Not surprising due to the kinda close age. BUT sounds pretty inappropriate.

If you don't feel comfortable, then tell him! Say you don't feel comfortable with the extra attention. Trust me, don't worry about being rude. Gonna have to learn to respect yourself enough to speak up (trust me, been there, but not a teacher.) The options are A) tell him you're uncomfortable, or B) let it continue til he tries something REALLY inappropriate, costing you some trauma & him his job, jail time, & being labelled a sex criminal.

BTW, being 18 won't make it legal. He's a teacher & has rules: no relationships w/ students. Black&white, no excuses.

People I'm not interested in my teacher! I just want to know why he does this and he is the one they starts conversations with me first, I just answer him when he asks me questions or says something. I don't want to be rude to him.

"...stares directly into my eyes and never looks away..."

Okay, he sounds borderline creepy/not normal with all the staring that you typed in your story, but other than that, a 26 year old liking an 18 is normal.

I never wear anything that is really revealing either and never wear skirts/dresses.

No, it's not normal, call your parents to do something about this. I've had this problem too. Just kick it into the ass, girl.

Seems like this kind of thing happens in a lot of schools, everywhere.

In this type of situation, when he starts talking to you, tell him that you feel uncomfortable about it. Tell him how you feel, and that he should stop (barring that is what you want).

This kind of thing actually happened to my sister and a few of her friends. There was a teacher that hit on many of the girls at the high school and he was about the same age as your teacher. And it is true, these teachers can get in very serious trouble for this stuff!

        LOL, true.

When I was doing an internship (in high school), I was interning with a teacher and this one girl had a low cut shirt on and she had huge breasts. I'm pretty sure I saw him slip a peek down her shirt as he walked by, lol.

  • Chances are, your intuition is right, sadly. If it makes you uncomfortable, just avoid him as much as possible.

  • I've had a few teachers like that. One in particular.
