My stepmum is a massive bitch she doesnt like my dad going out and when he does they argue, shes a lazy fat arse an doesnt do anything, she works but thats aboutit i do more than her and im 17 and shes 30 something. She has moved in with us and has lived here for the last 5 or 4 years and she has recently paid to have a gargae converted into a room. I think my dad wants a divorce but shes an evil kiniving bitch and will suck any bit of money she can out of him and the fact that shes paid for a room conversion doesnt help. Is there anything anyone can say to help me and my dad and is there anything to do with the law that can help i.e stopping her from getting any money the house etc.. oh and i live in England

    I think there's a certain amount of years someone has to be married before alimony can kick in. There's other factors as well, like if she's employed, and if she's officially adopted you, or if there's any other children in your family.

    Go to your states website and there should be a section on how divorce can work for your dad. My sister had to go through it last year, and I know it's a lengthy process with a novel length of papers, but if your dad is serious about it, nothing should stop him. If you're old enough, you could move out as well and at least you won't have to listen to it all the time.
