My sister is divorcing her husband and marrying his best friend (and former supervisor). Now my sister wants her ex-husband to give her away at the wedding. Is this normal?
Nope. Continuing boundary problems. What a strange set of relationships.
That's very odd. Why should she want her ex to give her away to his best friend?
As a side note, fathers usually give brides away because historically the daughters were considered their property. So in this respect it is "correct" for her ex to give her away to her future husband - one man passing on his "property" to the next owner. I hate thinking about it this way, though.
