My roommate hasn't talked other than saying her name. is this normal?!

So, I have this roommate and I've been in this room all semester. There was another girl too who was extraordinarily nice. But I'm focusing on the one who never talks. I say "hi" and she stares at me. She hasn't said anything all semester other than her name when we first moved in. Plus,to gripe a bit, she leaves her light on all night. And sets her alarm for 3 a.m but never wakes up to it. So it goes off for hours. She sets it again at 6 a.m. and it goes off until 7 a.m. And she sleeps at her desk with her light on. One time I turned it off and she glared at me and turned it back on.

    Never mind the silent treatment, how do you stand the alarm thing? After a couple of nights, her alarm would just go missing; every subsequent one of her alarms would go missing, as well. Poof, gone bears.
    You must be some kind of saint to have allowed it to continue this long. I admire your tolerance, but really honey, time to get a full night's sleep, don't you think?

    Some roommates are just very quiet and reclusive, which I think is normal, but the 3am alarm thing sounds abnormally anti-social. Did you have to sign any sort of agreement before you moved into the room? There's probably something in there about anti-social behaviour, loud noise after a certain time at night etc. Contact whoever manages the campus and tell them about your roommate and they should be able to help you or tell you what to do.

    If you want to avoid that route, earplugs are useful for some quiet sound and eye masks are good for the light.

    Our school generally requires a roommate agreement but I moved in at the beginning of spring semester and my RA failed to get us an agreement. But I usually try to use headphones and music but her alarm is really loud. Either way it doesn't matter since I don't have to deal with her next semester. I just find it very odd.
