My parents only spend money on themselves, iin?

I live at home since Im still in high school and too young to get a job and so have to rely on my parents for money (which I appreciate a lot). The problem is they both earn high wages and buy expensive things for themselves such as new clothes, holidays (that I dont get to go on), new cars, new ipods, new laptops etc however they rarely spend money on me other than basic needs like food.I have to buy my own shampoo, school supplies, soap, clothes, deodorant, I've had to buy all my shoes for school too and with quite a small allowance I find this really difficult. I havent had my hair cut for nearly a year as I need to spend the money on other things however my mom has hers done atleast once a month. I'm aware I should be very grateful for what I do get and I am it's just that considering my parents are really wealthy I feel I kind of deserve to atleast have socks and underwear bought for me (I dont haha)...my friends were saying they think its kind of abnormal, do you? or maybe I am being a bitch I dont know :/

It's very normal to feel the way you do. Personally, I think what they're doing is great! They're teaching you the value of a dollar.

it depends on how old you are. try to find out the law.

  • i agree with mando (if your not eggagerating) it sounds mean and unloving plenty of ways for them to guide you in the value of money, not so tough on a student what are you meant to do? say to them that you feel sad thatll work, no one wants there kid to be sad

I have to agree with wreckd. Many kids have no idea how to budget money. My guess is that your parents were raised in a similar fashion and now they are successful and want you to be as well.

Ask them for a job. My parents paid me to paint and do abnormally large cleaning projects around the house for extra cash.
