My neighbor's dog got run over cause i didn't help

I saw his dog running loose in the street and didn't bother helping. Like calling his dog to come over and putting him back in my neighbor's front yard, and closing the gate. The dog knew me so he would have come to me. Why didn't I help? Because I fucking hate my neighbor for letting the dog bark all day. I didn't see it happen but heard later the dog got run over. And I thought, good, I can finally get some peace and quiet. Am I coldhearted for letting this happen or thinking this way?

Damn that's cold. I know the dog is irritating but you didn't have to let him die. Why punish the dog for your neighbors actions?

This...what the fuck with whomever thumbed up the rest of this shit. It is the neighbor's fault 4 being an irresponsible pet owner. Dogs require effort & training, & the fact that this dog, with its innocent peanut brain, got kidnapped into a house, where it was not given the appropriate attention & training is not the dog's fault. It's the owners.

Shame on you, OP, you heartless bastard.

That's a very shitty way to live your life, dude.

It was the owner's responsibility to keep his dog safe but I don't get your response to its death. It was the neighbour who was also responsible for having a barking dog which annoyed you: not the dog's fault

You're not responsible for another person's dog unless you agreed with him that you were.
So nothing to feel sorry about. It's sad for the dog but I can understand that you're glad you can finally have peace.

That's why cats are better. They never bark all day.

You know, I half-expected you to respond with something a bit more in-character.

      RIP Danny.

Not your problem nor responsibility. I imagine you are not the only neighbor who is relieved it happened. Thing is, even if we care for someone or something, if they are "difficult", it is kind of a relief when they are gone. Even relatives sometimes.

The only problem here is that your neighbor will probably just go out and get another noisy-ass dog.

My neighbors have dogs who are a nuisance and I wouldn't care if something happened to them.

People love their own noise-creating things (dogs, cell phones, loud bikes, cars, music, whatever). The REST of the neighborhood is just annoyed by them.

But now is the appropriate time for a joke -
I guess with the newfound quiet, you REALLY won't be losing any sleep over it. HUUUUU HU HU HU HU.

I think you already know the answer to your question. I get why you think oh now you can get some rest but honestly, it wasn’t the dogs fault that the owner is a dickwaffle. My sisters cat is super irritating majority of the times whenever I’m over but if I saw that it was in danger then I’d help it, of course I would. It’s an awful shame that the dog has been ran over and I do think you should feel somewhat responsible but only because you knew you could help call it back home and you didn't. I think that’s a tad fucked up especially because you’re glad it’s dead. I hope when you try and get some shut eye you now think of how strange it is that the dog isn’t always barking. I hope sooner or later you feel guilty for not helping the poor thing.

I hope you feel guilty for being glad the dog is dead. If you don't at all, I'm concerned about you.

People are calling you an asshole, because you wrote in a way that makes you out to be one.

    Facts:

    You don't own the dog.
Your neighbor isn't a good dog owner.
It wasn't your car that hit him.
    You can't predict the future.

You simply witnessed your neighbor learning a hard lesson about properly owning and caring for a pet, and that mistreatment can have dire consequences. Sure you could have played a part and refused your role in the situation. Are you a bad person? Nope. Are you sad the dog died? Of course. Did you know the dog was going to die? Nope.

I don't like seeing creatures or people suffer or die, but I can fully understand you feeling relieved. You didn't like the dog or its owner, it wasn't your responsibility to care for it, and it was causing you annoyance.

We have a neighbour who's a major dickhead. Before we stopped talking to him altogether (like many other neighbours do), he constantly pissed and moaned about his heart condition and how he needs an operation. While I wouldn't actually do anything to harm him, I realised a while ago that if I saw him sprawled on the ground in his back garden, I wouldn't do a damn thing about it.

I too have a heart condition, but I don't moan about it, so I guess that means you'd help me if you saw me having another heart attack?

So you wouldn't even call 000 or 911 or whatever the emergency line is where you live? You'd just leave him to die because he annoys you?
