My neighbor built a fence in my yard so i tore it down

While I was on vacation he built a 50-ft fence two feet into my property so while he was out I tore the whole thing down and put the wood in my garage. So now I have a bunch of free lumber. If someone builds something in your yard does it automatically become your property?

Perhaps talking over it first would've been a good idea? Because now there's room for retaliation from them. They might sue you for the cost of the fence.

    • He won't call the city cause he has a bunch of illegal stuff in his yard.

Yes it counts as your property, you have the rights to it, and your neighbour shouldn't have built that fence, and it's normal.

Now you can trade that 50 feet of lumber for two private jets and a swimming pool

    • It's worth quite a lot actually.

Couldn't you just move it to the actual edge of the property?

    • I didn't. As far as I'm concerned it was never there.

Make some garden boxes to line the actual property with it.
