Your mother just doesn't understand what the real problem is. Just like alcohol prohibition, what having it illegal all it does is make gangsters rich. Having it legal, takes the money away from the gangsters and gives it back to the community, plus it will dissolve the black market. She has bought into it being something horrible and believes the lies. She's apparently old school. What she doesn't realize is that it's more benign than alcohol. Perhaps after watching Colorado and Washington's lead and see what happens she might change her mind.
