My lady neighbor went completely bald overnight!!

I have a neighbor across the road who is a woman of about 55 years. All of a sudden one day she's bald as a cue ball and it happened overnight. She still does all the same stuff she always did like messing around outside and walking around, and she doesn't appear to be extremely ill, she's still getting around the same anyway. She could be ill, I don't know, I'm just saying she is still her normal self that I know of anyway.

I don't know her well enough to ask her, even if I did I doubt I'd be able to ask. I'm very curious about it though but why do I care, I don't know her at all? I find myself staring at her whenever I see her outside, I can't look away. It's a combination of the shock of it and because she looks hideous now being bald.

is it normal to be so curious about someone you don't know or care about?

  • Maybe she's always been bald and you've only seen her with a wig on, until now.

    • I'm 99% sure she wasn't wearing a wig before, I have met and talked to her a few times before, I just don't know her well, and she had short hair and it was pretty plain that it was her actual hair. It could be this but it's highly unlikely.

It's curiosity. And that, in general is extremely normal. It might sound really strange, but I'm even sort of like that with my own mother. She has breast cancer and once she started chemotherapy, instead of waiting for her hair to just fall out, she shaved it off. It was easier for her to deal with that way......perhaps this is a similar situation with your neighbour?? Or she could just be trying to make a fashion statement?? Maybe she did it for charity?? Who knows. Either way, it's normal :)

Dude, calm your shit. I'm pretty sure your neighbor has the right to be bald. Haha let her be it's her life n she doesn't need to give random neighbors her feelings bout being bald :/

If she lost all her hair suddenly without removing it, it's probably alopecia. This condition causes hair to fall out, usually on the scalp. It can cause bald spots, or complete baldness, and sometimes causes the eyebrows and lashes to fall out as well. Sometimes the person also loses all their body hair. It can be permanent. I've known two people personally who developed the condition, for both, they lost their hair permanently.

I'm gunna go with she had a Britney Spears moment or she's tired of doing her hair and finally! she's old enough not to have to give a shit about it anymore. Maybe her dog ate her wig or she accidentally caught it on fire cooking. XP

It's normal to be curious. You come up with all these ideas of why this has happened and then you want to know the truth.

There are countless factors to make someone bald. You'll never know unless you ask her....

    Good Luck!

I've heard of this happening a few times, i read about someone eating a food they had never had and it caused all their hair to fall out in big clumps over the course of 1 day.

A man my father worked with lost half the hair on his head in one day (all in a big clump) and then lost the rest over the space of a week. Turns out it was alopecia brought on by stress.

    • Eyebrows too or just head hair? I wonder if I could get close enough if I could see if she still has brows and that might be another clue.

She's been shiny cue ball bald since a few weeks ago, so unless she's religiously shaving it with a razor every day which I doubt, something strange has happened!!

I can't remember whether he lost his eyebrows. I was only a kid. My gut instinct is that he didn't. It's difficult to remember. The stress was so bad that he left work and we didn't see him so much after that. I think I only saw him once or twice with alopecia.
