My kinks have changed since i've been in a relationship

I've been dating my current boyfriend for about a year now, and he was my first. While I was a virgin, though, I had an idea of what I would or wouldn't like in a sexual context. I saw myself as extremely vanilla, with a few inclinations towards things like ropes and blindfolds, sometimes roleplay. However, things like hitting, degrading, and the mere idea of group sex were absolute no's.
Most of that has changed since I've been with my boyfriend. He's down for anything and loves to experiment. We started out with the "normal" stuff and he gradually started presenting me with new ideas and new things to try. Nowadays, things I didn't think I would ever like are become a regular part of our sex life, and the things I was sure I would like are only amplified. In my fantasies I'll go even further. He has agreed not to hit me with his hand, a whip, or otherwise because he doesn't want to actually hurt me, but he does want me to get to a point where I'll hurt him, potentially getting into bloodplay. And, slowly but surely, the idea is growing on me. Is it normal for preferences like these to change so drastically?
