My hair sticks up all over my entire head naturally

my hair has always been sticking up but i have not really paid attention to it since i was like bald for 4 or something years .
but now yeah i let it grow like 6 inches long and it was still perfectly straight and growing upwards .
so i shaved the sides off and now i've got like some natural mohawk .

IS IT NORMAL THAT HAIR CAN STICK UP LIKE THAT ? , btw I have NEVER used any kind of a gel or hairspray .
