My guy friend said he's depressed because he doesn't know what we are?

Is this normal?

My good guy friend and I admitted we like each other as more than friends but we haven't labeled it as anything just yet so we are still just friends but now friends who openly like each other

But my friend has been acting distant and sad the last few days and it made me so sad as well because I really want to be with him but he's acting disinterested suddenly so I asked our mutual friend what's going on with Pete and he told me that Pete is depressed because he doesn't know what we are

I'm just really confused

He clearly wants to date you. Do you need a giant billboard or something????

Of course. I'm pretty sure I'm right. I think I get the way he feels and it seems to me that's why he get depressed. I've been there.

The fact he won't communicate this with you is a bit of a red flag...

Exactly, imagine they get together and then every time there's a conflict he shuts down and gives her the cold shoulder, and she has to play detective and interview a third party to figure out what his problem is. Sounds exhausting.

Ask him directly, don't waste energy reacting to what his friend says.

I don't understand why someone would be depressed because of that, I think it's more likely he has cold feet about the change in your relationship.

I just can't see why the label of dating would make a difference.

Because most people need to know to order their life.

A relationship should be easy going. Not stressful. Especially in the beginning.

This is just your opinion. Some people need boundaries.

Assuming you'd even begin a relationship is "boundaries". Fucking, relax.
