My girlfriend best friend can't keep a boyfriend!

I first met my girlfriend thru her best friend. My girlfriend and I connected right away and have been dating for a year. When we first started dating her best friend came every where with us, out to eat, movies, drinks and even once to a hotel room!? After this went on for a month or so I explained to my gf that I wasn't dating her and her best friend and why was it that her best friend had to come every where with us. Why did I say that? When my gf explained to her best friend how I felt the best friend was outraged. The best
friend then started throwing jabs at me telling my girlfriend I was using her and I was no good for her. To my surprise my girlfriend was considering what her best friend was saying even though we were having the time of our life. When I told my girlfriend that I would step back and let her and her best friend work their problems out she told me no and explained to me that we should spend more time together and we did. Her best friend was heated and very jealous. As time went on the best friend told my gf she didn't want to be friends anymore and when the best friend said that my gf did what she could to keep her around. What is this? Why does it seem that boyfriends and best friends(girls) can't co exist. This best friend relationship seems very strange to me. I need some advise.

    I actually am caught in the same situation, only that I am the 'best friend'. Trust me, it is totally normal for your girlfriend's best friend to feel so jealous. Jealousy hurts and that's why she decided she wouldn't want to be friends with your gf anymore.

    True indeed, even when this best friend saw how good my gf and I are doing the best friend will try and act as if she is in one of the best relationships in the whole wide world. That would be great but I've heard this about nine times in one year about nine different guys.William Penn said it best " The jealous are troublesome to others, but a torment to themselves."

    My little brother has and still is going through this same thing with his gf of 2 years. The girlfriends' best friend gets jealous because before you came along, they were always hanging out together without you there to divide the attention of the girlfriend. Her best friend may be sore at the both of you. You, because you now have more importance in her life. Her, because the best friend is upset that she is defending you or wanting to spend alone time without her.
