My friend's fiancãƒâ© abuses her

So, one of my girlfriends is engaged to a man I really despise. He's one year younger than her, but makes the rules. Everyone in our circle of friends knows he's definitely not good for her, as he abuses her both mentally and physically. He's even cheated on her a couple of times, and she knows this. Every friggin' time this happens, she forgives him. It's your typical definition of an abusive relationship - he does his 'thing' and she forgives him because she's been with him for so long, etc.

What I find weird is, I don't do anything to help her. Sounds bad right? But this isn't normal for me. For example, if I see someone get bullied, I'm the first one to go and defend the victim/face the attackers.
But everytime I hear how my friend's fiancé has (yet again) abused her, I find myself thinking "you deserve it, you b**ch". I think this might be because my friend is not someone I would usually hang out with. She talks sh*t behind people's backs if she doesn't like them, makes fun of disabled, fat, unattractive and/or black people -- something I am very dissapproving of. Normally I would just smack her in the face for being like that, but I can't hit her because I know what happens inside her house.

All her other friends tell her to break up, but she just ignores them. She's my friend also (and what a friend indeed...), but I don't intend to do anything to improve her situation.
This isn't normal, right?

Sounds like she's a dumb bitch. And if someone is going to stay in a relationship like that (which I've gone through) only themself can get them out of it.

you need to help her no matter how bad of a friend she is. what if it was u? u would want help 2 right. and maybe after you save her from her abusive relationship she will change. did u ever think the reason she doesn't care is because she is afraid to say it...be the better person like always. it really does pay off in the end! trust me!

    Your question is pretty ambiguous:

Are u asking if it is normal that she gets abused? (Which I think is what people are responding to).

Or are u asking if it is normal that you feel that way about her?

If this is what you are asking I think most people would agree with you as she does not sound like a very nice person.

Seems like she could be an acquaintance I'd probably feel the same way if I was in your situation, because I wouldn't want to impose or anything. You can call the police to report what's going on in her house though anonymously.

    • Yes. I agree. Call the police. You may not like her. But she is a human and does not deserve this abuse. Get your other friends to start blowing the whistle too.
