My friend keeps complaining about being ugly!

My bestfriend says shes insecure about how she looks. and it PISSES ME OFF.
why? because she jumps from boyfriend to boyfriend,is very popular and has a lot of guys who like her. and she knows it. she complains about how shes 'so ugly' but at the same time complains about having to turn down all the guys who ask her out. i tell her shes not ugly, that shes pretty (cause she is, she really is.)and that all the guys that want her should be proof. ive NEVER been asked out before... im the one that should be insecure. i feel bad for being mad at her. i guess i just dont understand how she could feel that way.

IS IT NORMAL FOR ME TO BE PISSED OFF BY THIS??

    Yes, completely normal to be pissed.

    I think she is fishing for compliments. So next time she starts talking about how ugly she is, just say, "yeah I know what you mean." By affirming her and saying, "no, you are sooo pretty!" You are just allowing her behavior to continue. She sees that you compliment her when she says this, so she is going to continue to do it. By just being passive, she is not getting that attention she so craves.

    I know how you feel, I am overweight and my friend is not at all and she always complains about being fat. It pisses me off so much.

    lol my friend says that too and she is better looking than me so i just say stuff like, "yeah! look at those ankles, my god you must be weighed down with those weights dragging round you. and my god why is it so dark? omigod your fat ripples are blocking the sun lose some weight dammit!" to which of course she laughs at and we forget the subject (i feel hypocritical when i say it.)

    I'm kind of pudgy and not the prettiest and my bestfriend, who is just like yours, complains about how fat and ugly she is but she's not. She's not a whore, but can get any guy she wants. And she's a size 0 in jeanss. While I'm a 9. Clearly, she's not fat.

    It's called "fishing for comments syndrome" it's where they like being called pretty and stuff and will say thing that kinda force others to compliment them. they need their ego stroked constantly. My suggestion is just agree with her and say, "O i know your just totally ugly. try wearing more make-up or something." That'll make her stop fishing in your pond.

    (ps, totally made up that syndrome if it wern't obvious...:P but srsly, totally agree that's she's ugly when ever she brings it up that'll teach her >:D)
